Update on April 12 Richmond, VA Card!

There have been a number of naysayers floating around the Saturday, April 12 boxing card at the Richmond Coliseum in Richmond, VA. Well as of now, this card is taking place and a number of Beltway Boxers will figure prominently on the show.

The co-feature contest will be a 10-round contest for the USBA Regional Lightweight title between Alexandria, VA's Jamie "The Punisher" Palma and Lenny "Hitman" DeVictoria of Philadelphia. Palma (13-10-1, three KO's) will try to keep his six-bout winning streak alive against a very tough opponent in DeVictoria (11-10, three KO's).

Super Bantamweight Clarence "Untouchable" Vinson of DC is also slated to return as he competes in a scheduled 10-round bout against LeShaun "Li'l Bossman" Blair of Knoxville, TN. Vinson (16-2, seven KO's) has not fought since his 10-round unanimous decision victory over Robert DeLuz on June 23 at Howard University in DC. Blair (3-16) has lost 10 in a row.

Undefeated Arlington junior welterweight Bayan Jargal (5-0-1, three KO's) will be in a six-round contest against DC's Pernell Jackson (1-3-1, one KO) who will be looking to break a three-bout losing streak.

Charlottsville, VA's George "Wartime" Rivera also returns in a scheduled six-round junior middleweight contest against Rodney Green of Wilson, NC. Rivera (8-1, three KO's) fought this past Saturday in Richmond, VA and won a four-round unanimous decision over Clarence "Sonny Bono" Taylor. Green (6-4-1, two KO's) won a six-round unanimous decision over Larry Brothers on November 17 in his hometown of Wilson. The bout was Green's first in nearly a year.

Brothers (7-29-3, five KO's) is slated to be on this card as he battles Ike Ezeji of The Bronx, NY (7-15-1, two KO's) in a four-round contest. Brothers could actually give some good insight on the Rivera-Green matchup as his last two losses came in unanimous decisions against both men. Both Brothers and Ekeji will be looking to break losing streaks; Brothers has lost five in a row and 14 of his last 15. Ezeji, a native of Nigeria, has dropped nine in a row and hasn't fought since April of 2006.

Also on the card, Gaithersburg, MD's Calvin Riley will look to right his fortunes as he faces Chris Thomas of Richmond in a six-round cruiserweight contest. Riley (1-2, one KO) lost his last two bouts, both to Willis Lockett. Thomas, a native of DC (8-1, four KO's), has not fought since March of 2005 when he stopped Gary Lavender in Greensboro, NC.

The main event for this card will be an eight-round matchup for the NABF Female Middleweight title as "The Coal Miner's Daughter" Christy Martin of Orlando, FL (47-5-2, 31 KO's) will take on Bonnie Mann of Raleigh, NC (11-8, four KO's). Another co-feature bout has welterweight Hector Camacho, Jr. (44-3-1, 25 KO's) battling Jimmy "The Dream" LeBlanc of Boston, MA (11-14-4, three KO's) in an eight-round contest. Another son of a famous fighter, lightweight Tim Witherspoon, Jr. (0-1) will be looking for his first pro victory when he faces Jose Guzman of The Bronx (1-3-1) in a four-rounder. Witherspoon made his pro debut in September 2005 and lost a four-round unanimous decision to Tyrell Samuel.

"Wartime" Rivera is a future world champ! He's the best in this area by a longshot!

Why is Clarence Vinson scare to fight Thomas KO Snow? Clarence needs to step it up and fight someone good like Snow. Ofcourse we all know Clarence Vinson would lose, but that fight would sell a lot of tickets>>>

Snow would knock out Vinson!!!

Anonymous said...

How would Snow vs. Vinson sell a lot of tickets? I remember Vinson headlining a show in DC that drew about 100 people. If I recall, Snow fought on a show in VA that drew about 50 people! What is your definition of a LOT of tickets?

I'm glad to see Clarence Vinson back in action. That young Brother has a lot of talent offensively and defesively. The only mistakes I've ever seen him make is fight his opponent's fight instead of making them fight his fight. Once the ring rust is knocked off, I'm expecting good progress...

By the way, Vinson is a batamweight and Smow is a featherweight. Boxing 101 my man.

Did someone say "Clarence needs to step it up and fight someone good like Snow"???

Now that is too funny...

Check out Vinson's and Snow's records...

Out of Vinson's eighteen fights, fifteen of them were against opponents with WINNING records!

Checking Snow's record, out of ten fights, he's fought roughly... oh wait... not a single guy with a winning record!!!!!

Clarence is a good fighter he is the next best thing watch and see.

Gary is Mcomb vs Seal on that april 12th card? And will there be in Amatuers fights?

Anonymous said...

Best in the area by a longshot.
Did you fall and bump your damn head or somethong.

Anonymous said...

Anthony & Lamont are the best in the area right now hands down.

Wartime is the best jr. middleweight in this area, that's what I meant. He's better than Jesse Nicklow, Tim Coleman, Ishmail Arvin, Jimmy Lange, and all the rest. I've seen him fight 3 times now and he's the real deal!

Anonymous said...

Charles Norwood might have something to say about that.
I tell you what, have Rivera fight the guy that just beat Norwood.
Bet that fight won't ever happen.
And he won't ever fight Nicklow either.

Anonymous said...

You mean Nicklow won't ever fight him!

Anonymous said...

Listen, Norwood is good and strong as an ox, but he just got lucky when he caught George. That happens. He wouldn't touch George now and that also goes for Snyder, he wouldn't lay a glove on him. And Nicklow? Forget it - those boys won't fight anybody up there who has a chance of beating that guy. He'll fight some guy from Indiana or the west in his next fight, you'll see.

George is good, but still developing as a fighter and more experience would be wise before throwing him in with either of those 2. If you think that he could beat either of them now, you need to examine your skills as managers. Although a good loss will teach him much, too great of a loss will set him back.

His camp has the responsibility to look out for him and Juan and build them with more care. Will really be interested in Juan's next fight. With the loss you will have people that will step up to the plate now, and sure he will be phenomenal. You have gold there...save some of it so you can spend it wisely.

Has George seen Nicklow fight? Bring him up to Bmore next time, so HE can have some idea and input in the decision and let him do his own talking. Did Juan see Calloway fight live before he took that? Trust is good, but it puts responsibility for their careers on your shoulders, and would like to see you handle them with the maturity & common sense your fighters deserve.
Fan of Juan & George.

Have you picked the phone up and called Jake and asked for a fight? Or are you just starting static on the blog.

I'm not George's manager, I just know what I see and that boy can fight! I also know the boys in B-more and they ain't fighting George!

Camacho Jr's comin' to town... get the boo horns out!!!

I never had so much fun in my life when Camacho made an appearance at the Lincoln Theater a few years back and we eventually got half the audience to participate in booing Camacho out of the Theater with his fraudulent "performance".

George will not fight Tracy Brewer
EVER,EVER,EVER,EVER,EVER,EVER,EVER
Guarenteed or your money back.

Anonymous said...

Reading this got me to thinking about the quality of jr. middles that we've seen fight in the Beltway area: Jesse Nicklow, Tim Coleman, Lawrence Jones, Jason Champion, Jimmy Lange, George Rivera, Charles Norwood, Josh Snyder, Tracy Brewer. Tournament anyone?

Anonymous said...

Don't forget Orazio Robinson and Ishamil Arvin!

Anonymous said...

If Orizo applies himself and is
with the right people he could very easily be the class of the fighters just listed.Nicklow second and flip a coin for the third best.

Anonymous said...

Jaime Palma is going to get roasted by De Victoria. Anybody taking bets. Were coming to Virginia to beat that boy down
I'll be surprised if he doesn't pull up lame again befor fight time.

Anonymous said...

This title that Palma is fighting for is a regional title not a united states title. That could be the Alexandria, springfield,Arlington region. These belts are a dime a dozen. All you have to do is pay any sanctioning body a fee and they will make up some kind of regional belt for you to fight for.
Okay I'll give him one more city,
lets see how about lets add Lorton to that list. Wow what a huge Region.

Anonymous said...

are you sure that you are going to beat down Jaime. I attended that fight and lenny really didn't beat that tall boy from Ohio? Now as for him fighting for the regiona, it definitely isn't the actually USBA title, but i heard that he was ranked. What I don't know. Is lenny ranked?

Rivera- This boy has talent. As long as this game doesn't get to his head an no snakes become part of his team like he may have, I can see him going on and being something big.

There sure is alot of anonymity on here. I guess people are punks behind their words. It's funny because those who hide there names talk as if they have boxing gloves on, but really would probably get knock the F out the first round. Show yourselfs. Punks jump up to get beat down

As far as Peterson bros are good, however how come they aren't making big noise right now and I'm thinking they should.
