Aiken Stopped in IBO Title Bout!

Former IBF Featherweight champion Eric "Mighty Mouse" Aiken was unsuccessful in his bid to win the IBO Featherweight crown. Aiken was stopped in the ninth round against Thomas Mashaba today in Gauteng, SA.

According to Ron Jackson of Fightnews.com, the South African Mashaba was in severe trouble early on and was down for a count in the sixth round but hammered away at the American in the eighth round before sending him to the canvas with a copy-book left hook at 1 minute 51 seconds in the next round. Referee Terry O'Connor did not even take up the count as Aiken's assistants rushed to his side.

Aiken's record falls to 16-6-1, 12 KO's. Mashaba improved to 20-2-4, 12 KO's in making the fourth defense of his belt.
