Scale Watch for Thompson-Krasniqi!

Tony "The Tiger" Thompson weighed in at 248 pounds for tomorrow's WBO Heavyweight Eliminator bout with Luan "The Lion" Krasniqi in Hamburg, Germany. Krasniqi tipped the scales at 226 pounds.

The bout will not be televised in the United States.

One other scale note: Stafford, VA heavyweight "The People's Champion" Jonathan Felton weighed in at 218 pounds for his bout against Kevin Hood tonight at the PAL Center in Hockessin, DE. Felton is 5-8, five KO's and has won his last two bouts, including a second-round TKO over Eric Starr on June 23 at Howard University's Burr Gymnasium in DC. Hood, fighting out of Coatesville, PA, is 4-6 and recently had a three-bout winning streak snapped as he lost by second-round KO to Travis Kauffman on March 30 in Phoenixville, PA.

Gary,

Are you serious? Tony weighed 248? I think that's heavy for him by about 10 to 15 pounds. That's NOT a good sign. He's still far better than Krasniqi, after all Brewster knocked him out and he quit in another fight. Plus, Krasniqi had some tough moments with both Brian Minto and David Bostice (watch those fights on You Tube). If Tony is 248, he's not in great shape. If Tony loses this fight, his conditioning is the ONLY reason. Not good. Now if you meant to say 238, different ball game and different fight entirely - Tony "The Tiger" by wide unanimous decision. But if he is indeed 248, he will probably lose.

I used a metric converter for this so I think the weight is right. If it isn't, of course I'll correct it.

However, the weight is just eight pounds heavier than Thompson's last bout against Timor Ibragimov. Of course, Krasniqi is a better fighter than Ibragimov so we'll have to see.

248 is still heavy for him. He weighed 238 against Dominick Guinn. I saw Tony fight Yanqui Diaz and he weighed 250 and he looked fat at that weight. He won the fight, which I guess is all that counts. This isn't a body building contest, it's a fight. But I still don't like that 248 for Thompson, especially since it's the biggest fight of his career.

There is reason for concern as far as the weight. But what concerns me more is that Tony went to Germany just a little over a week before the bout.

If you remember, that affected Keith Holmes greatly when he went over to France just a week before his bout with Hacine Cherifi. Holmes was spent and lost his WBC Middleweight crown.

Thompson should have taken a page out of Hasim Rahman's book when he fought Lennox Lewis the first time. Yes, Lewis was not in the best of shape in that bout, but Rahman had been in South Africa almost a month before that bout. He had adjusted himself to the time change and the surroundings there by the time the bout took place.

I was hoping Tony would do the same thing.

Good point Digital about the time difference. I just know that Thompson is far more talented than this guy. I just hope he is in shape.

Honestly, I don't know man. As a betting man, I love Thompson as an underdog in this fight. But, make no mistake. The German is a thoroughbred. He fought Felix Savon in the amateurs (loss), but Krasniqi is definately a top ten fighter. I don't think talent is a factor b/c both are gifted athletes and both have earned this position. That said, Krasniqi has the obvious advantage if it goes to the cards but it is an evenly matched fight. I like Thompson, but hey... I am from the DC area. Search the german on youtube.com. He can fight

well I guess the weight didn't matter, Thompson dominated & KO'd Krasniqi in the 5th round...

Tony did listen to every single word Tom Browner said and he stopped the german in 5 rounds.
Tony and Tom are both champions.
CONGRADULATIONS TO YOU BOTH!!!

tom browner did a great job with a guy who did not have much of an amature background. i think he has another one on the way-a 22 year old name Rod Henson. he too is going to make some serious noise.
i wonder if Berrie Holly will try to take credit for him too.
Everyone knows!!!

its not just Baerrie Holly's fault. Tony had something to do with that also. remember the grass always seems greener on the other side.

Nice work Tiger!!

Hey, if the Petersons win titles, why not have a Verizon Center show with them and Tiger-Sultan as the headliners?

acw it will be hard to sell tickets here if the petersons fight bumbs. remember last montgh when they fought here. they gave out free tickets and sold most for five dollars. now if they step it up, and fight a top contender, then that is a different story. or better yet, if they allow Cassandra White handle things from here on out. she is the best promoter DC has ever had. she is also honest, sincere and beautiful.

Cassandra everyone knows that is you. Get a life!!!
