Wade, Russell, Guerrero Advance to US Championships!

Three of the Beltway's top amateurs have advanced to the US Championships in Colorado Springs by winning trial championship bouts in recent weeks.

Largo, MD middleweight Dominic Wade won his first open division championship by defeating Kelly Max Buchanan of Teague, TX by stoppage in the third round at the Western Trials in Salt Lake City, UT.

Earlier in the month, Capital Heights, MD lightweight Gary Russell, III advanced to the US Championships by defeating Cleveland, OH's Miguel Gonzalez 27-15 to win the lightweight title at the Midwestern Trials in Cincinnati, OH.

Also at the Midwestern Trials, Salisbury, MD's Fernando Guerrero defeated the 2006 Under-19 champion Shawn Porter of Cuyahoga Falls, OH 29-19 to win the middleweight title.

The US Championships will take place on June 2-8 in Colorado Springs, CO. The top eight finishers from the US Championships will advance to the Olympic Team Trials.

Good luck to them all. There is another local boxers from Washington, DC who has advanced to the US Championships - Jimson Adebosuye from SRL.

Also, Gary Russell, Jr. He earned the right to advance last year at the PAL.

Acually there are Gary Russel. Allen Russel, Lucas Runion, Fernando Guerrero, Jimmson Adebosuye, Dominique Wade, and James Berry.
