A good number of Beltway Amateur Boxers took home titles at the recent USA Boxing National Championships in Shreveport, LA this past week.
The Junior Male 132 KG title bout turned out to be an all-DC affair as Khaliq Harrison won a 5-0 decision over Marcell Steele.
Marcus Luther of DC captured the Intermediate Male 119 KG championship with a 5-0 decision over David Lona of Texas.
DC's Benjamin Johnson won a 5-0 decision over Juan Rivera of PA to win the Junior Male 138 KG title.
Quincey Williams of Maryland took the Youth Male 152 KG crown with a 5-0 decision over Dominick Reed of California.
Jamal Harvey of Maryland captured the Elite Male 125 KG title with a close 3-2 decision over Jonathan Mansour of California.
Jordan Roach of Maryland won the Youth Male 108 KG championship with a 4-1 decision over Ryan Williams of Ohio. Roach is the younger brother of pro boxer Lamont Roach, Jr.
Among the locals capturing silver medals (along with Marcell Steele) were Patrick O'Connor of Maryland, Brandon Chestnut of DC, and Jeremiah Jimason of Maryland.
