The Matchroom Boxing card that was scheduled to take place on Friday, April 17th at MGM National Harbor Casino in Oxon Hill, MD has been canceled due to the COVID-19 outbreak.
The card was scheduled to feature a main event bout between Regis Prograis and Maurice Hooker and a contest between Cecilia Braekhus and Jessica McCaskill for the Unified Female Welterweight championship. No Beltway Boxers were scheduled to be on this card.
Maryland Governor Larry Hogan has decreed that all casinos and race tracks in Maryland be closed indefinitely. This puts other local boxing events -- specifically the Washington Golden Gloves -- in jeopardy. No official word on whether the Washington Golden Gloves, which are being held at Rosecroft Raceway in Fort Washington, MD, will be canceled.
