Undefeated Upper Marlboro, MD super featherweight Lamont Roach, Jr., the number-one-rated challenger in the World Boxing Organization, will get his mandatory world title defense against the newly-crowned WBO champion Jamel "Semper Fi" Herring of Cincinnati, OH by way of Coram, NY.
The bout is slated to take place on Saturday, November 9th at a site to be determined and will be streamed on ESPN+. Officials for Herring's promoter, Top Rank and Roach's promoter, Golden Boy, came to an agreement avoiding a purse bid. Roach (19-0-1, seven KO's) is coming off a successful defense of his WBO International Super Featherweight championship winning a 10-round unanimous decision over Jonathan Oquendo on May 4th in Las Vegas, NV. Roach also won the NABO Super Featherweight championship on that evening. Herring (20-2, 10 KO's) won the WBO Super Featherweight title with a 12-round unanimous decision over Masayuki Ito on May 25th in Kissimmee, FL.
