Joel Tchatchunji and Malik Titus have moved into the semifinals of the National Golden Gloves Tournament of Champions at the Chattanooga Convention Center in Chattanooga, TN.
Tchatchunji won a 4-1 decision over Preston Draw of Pennsylvania at 178 pounds while Titus defeated Luis Alvardo of Wisconsin by a 5-0 decision at 201+ pounds. These two, along with Kelvin Davis at 152 pounds, are the only DC Region boxers remaining in the competition.
Nerissa Turner lost her bout at female 132 pounds by a 5-0 decision to Nancy Garcia of Texas. William Townsel dropped a 3-2 decision to Anthony Campbell at 165 pounds. At 201 pounds, Ezri Turner lost a 5-0 decision to Juwan Talley of New Jersey.
Also, Amelia Moore, who won a National Golden Gloves championship in 2017, lost her bout at 141 pounds to Ariele Davis of the Mid-South region. Moore, who currently lives in Virginia, represented the Colorado/New Mexico region due to her association with Team USA, that trains in Colorado Springs.
