Beltway Boxers went three-for-three in the preliminary portion of a card at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, NY.
Capitol Heights, MD bantamweight Antonio "Another" Russell scored a sixth-round TKO over Jose Maria Cardenas of Tijuana, Mexico. Russell was in control throughout the contest landing solid shots. As the bell rang to start the sixth round, Russell hit Cardenas with a stunning straight left hand. Cardenas backed into a neutral corner and Russell swarmed him. After just 22 seconds of action in the sixth, the ringside doctor told the referee to stop the nout.
Russell remains undefeated at 13-0, 11 KO's. Cardenas falls to 16-4, 13 KO's.
In a six-round bout, Landover, MD welterweight Tyrek "I.G.B." Irby won a unanimous decision over Dennis Okoth of Kenya. Irby scored a knockdown midway through the first round and went on to the easy victory. No word on the scores. Irby is now 7-0, two KO's. Okoth drops to 2-2-1, one KO.
Baltimore, MD middleweight Aaron Anderson returned from an almost two-year absence to win a four-round unanimous decision over Chukka "The Lion King" Willis of Emporia, KS. Anderson went the distance for the first time in his young career and won by shutout (40-36) one all three cards. Anderson is now 4-0, three KO's while Willis is 4-10, three KO's.
