Severn, MD heavyweight Sherman Artis, Jr. lost by second-round TKO to Clayton Laurent, Jr. of St. Thomas, Virgin Islands Saturday at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, NY.
Artis had to deal with a huge weight disparity, coming in at 233 pounds to Laurent's 291.6. Laurent pummeled Artis throughout the contest, knocking him down three times in the second round before the bout was stopped at 2:56.
Artis's record is now even at 3-3 while Laurent, an Olympian in 2016 and the stepson of former world champion Julian Jackson, is now 2-0, two KO's.
