First Look At August Schedule!

August will be a relatively busy month for the Beltway Boxing scene.  We have two cards scheduled for the area and a number of boxers will be competing around the country.  Here's your first look with the reminder that all bouts are subject to change at any time.

Saturday, August 4th, Sterling, VA -- Ponytail Promotions will have a card at the Dulles Sportsplex.  Scheduled to appear on this card are Ashburn, VA middleweight Tori "Sho Nuff" Nelson (17-2-3, two KO's), undefeated Ashburn welterweight Seth "Killer B" Billups (10-0, six KO's), Baltimore, MD lightweight Mack "Papi" Allison IV (7-1-1, seven KO's) and Ashburn middleweight Carlos "Refuse To Lose" Cruz (1-3, one KO).

Saturday, August 4th, NYCB Live at Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum, Uniondale, Long Island, NY -- Two of the Russell Brothers of Capitol Heights, MD -- Antuanne and Antonio -- will be on this card.  Antuanne (6-0, six KO's) will be in a scheduled eight-round super lightweight bout against Jose Arturo Esquivel (10-7, two KO's) of Ciudad Saucillo, Chihuahua, Mexico.  Russell last fought on May 19th and scored a first-round KO over Wilmer Rodriguez at the MGM National Harbor Casino in Oxon Hill, MD.  Esquivel has lost two straight and six of his last seven bouts.  One of those losses came to Lamont Roach, Jr. by eight-round unanimous decision in May of 2016 in Las Vegas.  Meanwhile, Antonio (11-0, nine KO's) will be in an eight-round bantamweight bout against an opponent to be determined.  Russell's last bout was also on that May 19th card in Oxon Hill and he registered a fifth-round TKO over Jonathan Lecona Ramos.  Antuanne Russell's bout is slated to be televised on FS2 and Fox Deportes. Antonio's bout may make that telecast if time permits.

Saturday, August 4th, Meadows Racetrack and Casino, Washington, PA -- Washington, DC cruiserweight Dameron Kirby will be in a four-round bout against debuting John Jaquay of Pittsburgh, PA.  Kirby (0-2) has suffered first-round knockouts in both of his bouts.  Jaquay comes over from Mixed Martial Arts.

Friday, August 10th, Belasco Theater, Los Angeles, CA -- Landover, MD featherweight Kevin Rivers, Jr. will be in an eight-round contest against Emilio Sanchez of North Hollywood, CA.  Both boxers are coming off losses.  Rivers, Jr. (14-2, 10 KO's) lost by six-round split decision to Diuhl Olguin on May 12th in Verona, NY. This will be the first eight-round contest for Rivers, Jr.  Sanchez (15-1, 10 KO's) was knocked out in the second round by Eugene Lagos on March 22nd in Indio, CA.  This card is slated to be televised by Estrella TV.

Friday, August 10th, Sugar House Casino, Philadelphia, PA -- Super welterweight Jonathan Burrs of Hagerstown, MD will make his pro debut in a four-round bout against James Martin (1-0) of Pennsylvania.   Burrs fought in the Washington Golden Gloves for more than five years.

Saturday, August 11th, PAL Center, Hockessin, DE -- Baltimore light heavyweight Travis "Seveer" Reeves returns to action in a six-round bout against an opponent to be determined.  Reeves (15-3-2, seven KO's) last fought on March 24th and suffered a 12th-round TKO at the hands of Karo Murat in Wilhelmsburg, Germany.

Friday, August 17, Grand Casino, Hinckley, MN -- Baltimore heavyweight Hasim "Gold Blooded" Rahman, Jr. (5-0, four KO's) is scheduled to be on the card against an opponent to be determined.  Rahman last fought on June 29th in Woodlawn, MD and stopped Steven Tyner in the first round.

Saturday, August 18th, Maryland Live Casino, Hanover, MD -- Jeter Promotions hosts this card that is scheduled to be televised by CBS Sports Network.  We told you about this card, however, there are some changes.  Local boxers Dusty Hernandez Harrison and Sam Crossed are off the card replaced by fellow Beltway Boxers Myke "The Professor" Fox (17-0, four KO's) and D'Mitrius "Big Meech" Ballard (18-0, 12 KO's).  No boxer on the card has an opponent yet.

Friday, August 24th, Avenue Club, Cincinnati, OH -- Three Beltway Boxers are slated to be on this card against opponents to be determined.  Hyattsville, MD super lightweight Patrick "YG Pat" Harris is slated to be in the six-round main event. Harris (13-0, eight KO's) comes off a solid third-round stoppage of Rynell Griffin on May 12th in Sterling, VA.  Also, DC welterweight Shynggyskhan Tazhibay will be in a four-round contest.  Tazhibay (6-0, two KO's) last fought on April 21st and won a four-round unanimous decision over Isaac Freeman in Brooklyn, NY.  Another DC welter, Keeshawn Williams (2-0-1, one KO) won a four-round majority decision over Adrian Martinez on May 25th at the Music Hall Arena in Cincinnati.

Saturday, August 25th, Upshur Recreation Center, Washington, DC -- The annual Cease Fire -- Don't Smoke The Brothers and Sisters Cookout and Amateur Boxing card.  Free boxing, free food and, most importantly, an advancement on the six-month moratorium to stop the killings in the Nation's Capitol.
