Both Alexandru Marin and Michael Ruiz, Jr. weighed 115 pounds for their 10-round contest Saturday night at the Masonic Temple in Norfolk, VA.
There has been a major change in this contest and the stakes are higher now. Originally, the bout was scheduled to be for the USBO Super Flyweight title. However, the IBO has elevated the contest to a bout for the IBO Intercontinental championship. The winner of this bout will automatically become the mandatory challenger for the IBO World Super Flyweight title.
If Marin wins, this will be his second IBO title. Marin won the IBO International Bantamweight title with a third-round TKO over Johnny Determan in June of 2016 in Springfield, VA.
