Davis Clinches Medal In First International Competition; Advances To Semis Of Strandja Tournament!

Alexandria, VA lightweight Keyshawn Davis has guaranteed that he will come away from the Strandja Tournament in Sofia, Bulgaria with a medal.  This is a great achievement for Davis, who is participating in his first international tournament.

Davis won a unanimous decision over Armenian Hrayr Shahverdyan today to advance to Saturday's semifinals, where he will face Dorin Bucsa of Moldova.  Also competing in the semis will be Davis's gym mate Troy Isley, who will battle Iran’s Seyedshanin Mousavi.

The USA Elite High Performance squad will leave this tournament with five medals.  Delante Johnson of Cleveland, OH will be in the semifinals tomorrow, while two female boxers, Virginia Fuchs of Kemah, TX and Krystal Dixon of New Rochelle, NY, earned bronze medals in Friday's competition.  More than 250 boxers from 32 countries participated in this year's tournament.
