Alexandria, VA middleweight Troy Isley has advanced to the quarterfinals of the 2017 AIBA Men's Elite World Championships in Hamburg, Germany.
After winning his first bout by walkover, Isley shocked many people in attendance by winning a 5-0 decision over two-time Egyptian Olympian and 2015 Middleweight world champion Hosam Abdin. Isley, who is the youngest member of the USA Elite team, will look to clinch a bronze medal if he can defeat Israli Madrimov of Uzebekistan on Tuesday.
By the way, one of the coaches of the USA squad is Kay Koroma, also of Alexandria.
