The coming week of boxing received an unexpected boost as one Beltway Boxer had an unexpected boost while another prospect was added to a card.
The opponent for undefeated Temple Hills, MD super middleweight D'Mitrius "Big Meech" Ballard has changed for his nationally televised (ESPN2) 10-round bout at the Casino Del Sol in Tucson, AZ on Thursday, May 18th. Ballard will now face veteran Denis "Momma's Boy" Douglin of Marlboro, NJ. Douglin (20-5, 13 KO's) will look to bounce back from suffering a tenth-round TKO against David Benavidez on August 5th in Philadelphia, PA. Douglin replaces Ulises Sierra on the card.
Douglin suffered his first loss in the Beltway, dropping a third-round TKO to Doel Carrasquillo in February of 2011 in Salisbury, MD. Douglin would also stop Beltway Boxer Julius Kennedy in the fourth-round in Philadelphia.
On Saturday, May 20th, undefeated DC bantamweight Jordan "Short Dog" White will be on a card at the Laredo Energy Center in Laredo, TX. White (4-0, three KO's) will be in a six-round bout against fellow undefeated boxer Adam "Blunose" Lopez (6-0, three KO's) of Glendale, CA. White is coming off a six-round unanimous decision win over Jose Elizondo on November 5 in Fort Washington, MD. Lopez won a four-round unanimous decision over Adan Ochoa on April 15th in Burbank, CA. Ochoa will be in a six-round contest for the first time in his young pro career.
The card will be televised on Fox Sports 1 and the White-Ochoa bout is a swing bout that could end up on the telecast, which begins at 10 PM ET.
