Temple Hills, MD super middleweight D'Mitrius "Big Meech" Ballard won a 10-round unanimous decision over late sub Adrian Luna of Mexico to capture the WBC USNBC Super Middleweight championship Thursday at Casino Del Sol in Tucson, AZ. The bout was shown on ESPN2.
Ballard dropped Luna in the second round with a counter left hand and had the bout in control. However, Luna fought back gamely and landed some shots on Ballard. Ballard was able to do enough to win the bout on the scorecards, 97-92 and 95-94 (twice). Ballard remains undefeated at 17-0, 12 KO's while Luna falls to 20-5-1, 13 KO's.
