Big win tonight for Bowie, MD super middleweight "The King's Son" Jerry Odom. Taking the nationally-televised ShoBox on Showtime bout on one week's notice and coming off a battle with strep throat, Odom scored a vicious third-round TKO over Julius "The Chef" Jackson of the Virgin Islands at the Foxwoods Resort Casino in Mashantucket, CT.
Jackson, son of the legendary former world champion Julian "The Hawk" Jackson, controlled the action for the first two rounds as he pressured Odom and landed solid inside punches.
However, Odom turned the bout around for good in the third round with one punch, a crushing right hand that landed on the bridge of Jackson's nose and dropped him to the canvas. Jackson barely beat referee Arthur Mercante, Jr's count but was deemed unfit to continue. The bout was stopped at 1:57.
With the win, Odom breaks a two-bout winless streak and is now 14-2-1, 13 KO's. Jackson suffers his second straight knockout loss and falls to 19-2, 15 KO's.
