Tough night for Beltway Boxers on national television tonight. At the DC Armory, Tony "The Tiger" Thompson was stopped in the sixth round by undefeated Luis "The Real King Kong" Ortiz.
Ortiz battered Thompson all over the ring, knocking him down three times in the contest. Thompson provided little challenge in the contest. The bout was stopped at 2:29 of the sixth.
Meanwhile at the Sands Bethlehem Events Center in Bethlehem, PA on Showtime, Antoine "Action" Douglas was stopped in the 10th round by Avtandil Khurtsidze. Douglas suffered a cut over his right eye and was dropped in the third by a left hand. Douglas mounted a comeback in the fifth round but by the seventh, Khurtsidze was able to drop Douglas in the seventh with a left hand. Finally, Khurtsidze landed a brutal right hand early in the tenth that stopped the bout at 33 seconds.
