Roach, Jr. Wins Unanimous Decision In New York City!

Upper Marlboro, MD lightweight Lamont Roach, Jr. won a six-round unanimous decision over Jose Bustos of Ciudad Juarez, Chihuahua, Mexico tonight at Madison Square Garden in New York City.

According to Matt Richardson of Fightnews.com, the bout wasn't the most exciting bout ever seen.  Here is his report.

Little action occurred early on as Roach seemed content to box from the outside and outwork his much slower opponent. Roach connected with combinations in the second minute of the fourth but Bustos absorbed the shots well and came back with a few uppercuts of his own. Roach also did well in the first minute of the final round when he scored with wide rights to the temple of Bustos. Bustos fought back well, however, to dispel any inclination the referee may have had to call a halt to the fight.

Roach is now 9-0, three KO's while Bustos falls to 7-6-3, four KO's.
