Irby Scores Second-Round Knockout In World Series Of Boxing Debut!

Oxon Hill, MD light welterweight Tyrek Irby made a very successful World Series of Boxing debut Saturday night in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

Irby, who competes for the USA Knockouts team in the competition, scored a second-round TKO over Lucas Ivan Gimenez of the Argentina Condors.  The Knockouts would win four of five bouts in the competition.

Irby hit Gimenez with two right hands followed by a left-right combination that sent Gimenez spiraling to the canvas.  Gimenez was able to get up but the referee deemed him unfit to continue.

According to the World Series of Boxing schedule, the next time the Knockouts will be in action will be on February 7.  There is video of Irby's win on the WSB website www.worldseriesboxing.com.  You have to register for a subscription pass but the registration is free.  Irby's bout is third on the list.
