We are learning that Dusty Hernandez Harrison will not be the only Beltway Boxer battling for a title on Friday, January 9 at the Theater at Madison Square Garden in New York City.
World Boxing News is reporting that undefeated Randallstown, MD welterweight Cecil McCalla will take on Chris Van Heerden of Meyerton, Gauteng, South Africa for the vacant IBF International Title in the co-feature bout.
Harrison, as we've already mentioned, will take on Tommy Rainone for the vacant WBC Continental Americas Welterweight title in the main event. Both bouts will be televised by Fox Sports 1.
McCalla (20-0, seven KO's) is coming off a first-round knockout of Francisco Javier Reza on November 21 in Wilmington, DE. Van Heerden, who is trained by hall of famer Freddie Roach (21-1-1, 11 KO's) won a 10-round split decision over Ray Narh on April 16 in Santa Monica, CA.
