Antoine "Action" Douglas and Glenn Dezurn scored victories on a card at the Ukrainian Cultural Center in Somerset, NJ on Friday.
In the main event, Douglas, a middleweight from Burke, VA, stopped a very game Jose "Stinger" Medina of Tilden, NH at 42 seconds of the sixth round. According to noted boxing writer Jack Obermayer, Douglas hit Tilden with every punch in the book, especially in the latter stages of the contest. Newly re-appointed New Jersey Commission Boxing Chair Larry Hazzard forced the referee to stop the contest.
Douglas remains undefeated at 15-0-1, 10 KO's while Medina drops to 18-16-1, seven KO's.
Dezurn, a featherweight from Baltimore, MD, won a four-round unanimous decision over Joshua Reyes of Millville, NJ. Obermayer said Dezurn showed great hand speed in his combinations and Reyes offered very little resistance. All three judges scored a shutout for Dezurn, 40-36.
Dezurn is now 5-0, three KO's. Reyes falls to 5-3, two KO's.
