The list of Beltway Boxing Knockout of the Year candidates got a little longer tonight as Marq Johns stopped Luis Hernandez at 21 seconds of the second round.
In the first round, Johns landed some brutal body shots. In the second, Hernandez started to land some solid shots very early and challenged Johns to come forward. That turned out to be a mistake as Johns came forward with a vicious right hand that leveled Hernandez and brought the sellout crowd to its feet.
Hernandez beat referee Dave Braslow's count but was unfit to continue.
Johns remains undefeated at 4-0-1, four KO's. Hernandez is now O-5.
Joshua "Dynamite" Davis of DC is in the ring in a six-round encounter against Thomas "The Animal" Herrera of Las Vegas, NV. Junior lightweights.
