Dominic "Lights Out" Wade of Largo, MD has won a 10-round unanimous decision over Nick "Machine Gun" Brinson of Albany, NY tonight at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, NV in front of a nationally televised ShoBox audience.
In completing 10 rounds for the first time in his pro career, Wade made things simple by using the basics, with everything coming off a strong left jab. Wade landed solid shots over the top with the right hand that helped him build an early lead. Brinson tried to land some body shots but Wade was too big and too disciplined to let Brinson get any advantage.
Wade won by scores of 97-93 (twice) and 96-94 to remain undefeated at 16-0, 11 KO's. Brinson falls to 16-2-2, six KO's.
Dominic fought the right kind of fight last night. He used the jab like you stated Gary. Basic boxing starts with the jab. The thing i'm most impressed with is that Wade used his reach to his advantage. He also made the fight easy for his corner. They kept him motivated throughout the fight by giving him the proper instructions he needed to get Wade the rounds he needed to prove to himself that he could go the 10 round distance. Good job by Dominic and his team for preparing for this fight. Job well done.
