Busy Week of Travel Approaching For Beltway Boxers!

A number of Beltway Boxers will be on the road this week in some interesting scheduled bouts.  Here is the rundown.

As we mentioned earlier, DC heavyweight Danny "Smooth" Kelly and Upper Marlboro, MD lightweight Lamont Roach, Jr. will be on a card at the House of Blues in Boston, MA on Thursday, June 5. Kelly (5-0-1, four KO's) will face Eric Newell of Bethlehem, PA (7-2-2, five KO's) in a six-round encounter while Roach (1-0) faces Miguel Rodriguez of Mexico (1-6) in a four-round bout.

By the way, there will be a feature on Roach tonight on NBC Sports Final at 11:35 PM ET.

On Friday, June 6, DC heavyweight Tony "The Tiger" Thompson (39-4, 26 KO's) travels to the Palais des Sport Marcel Cerdan, Levallois-Perret, Hauts-de-Seine in France for a 12-round contest against Carlos Takam (29-1-1, 23 KO's) of France for the vacant WBC Silver Heavyweight title.

Back in the US, David "Day-Day" Grayton of DC (7-0, six KO's) will take on German Valdez of Mexico (3-4-1, one KO) in a six-rounder at the Fantasy Springs Casino in Indio, CA.

On Saturday, June 7, DC welterweight Jerrell "Hell-Rell" Harris is scheduled to be on a card at the Smith-Hammond-Middleton Center on the campus of South Carolina State University in Orangeburg, SC.  Harris (4-0, four KO's) is coming off a second-round TKO over Anthony Dave on March 28 in Weirton, WVA. No word yet on his opponent.

On June 7 In Greensboro, NC, Scott "Cujo" Sigmon of Lynchburg, VA (24-5, 13 KO's) will take on undefeated Deandre Neal of Columbia, SC (12-0, five KO's) in an eight-round main event at the Greensboro Coliseum.  Sigmon's last outing was a 10-round unanimous decision win over Jessie Nicklow on March 1 in Lynchburg.  Neal won an eight-round unanimous decision over Coy Lanbert on December 14 in Columbia.
