There is a new date for the ShoBox card that was originally scheduled for June 27 at the Washington Convention Center in Washington, DC. The new developments, however, may not bode well for the Nation's Capitol.
The new date is Friday, July 25 at an "event location to be announced," according to information we have received. Here's the issue: Summer is usually a very busy time for the Convention Center. The DC Armory is not an option because it doesn't have air conditioning.
So, there is a possibility that the card -- which is once again being promoted by Greg Cohen Promotions/GH3 Promotions -- may not take place in DC.
The card is mostly intact with Beltway Boxers Antoine Douglas, Jerry Odom, Alantez Fox and Cecil McCalla still slated for the card. The one question mark is Dusty Hernandez Harrison. Right now, he is not listed for this card.
We will continue to keep you posted.
That would suck if not in DC :( But yeah, Armory's out of the question with no AC in summer. Verizon Center maybe? Patriot Center?
ReplyDeleteI've spoken with some friends of mines over at Showtime and the word is that they weren't too happy abut those TBA's . Showtime wants to match prospect against prospect but the promoter wants to match our local area prospects against someone to pad their record. That ain't happening on national TV!
ReplyDeleteGood answer Deandre!
ReplyDeleteThe card is happening July 25th as Gary stated above not the 11th and I know the matchups for three of the four showtime telecast but were not announced due to the change of date and they were not easy fights. The three undefeated local fighters that had matches were all fighting opponents with at least 10 wins and only 1 loss. Not bums to pad records at all. I'm sure this card will end up somewhere in the beltway because it would make zero sense to have 4 beltway fighters fighting outside the area.
ReplyDeleteFirst of all the card is happening on July 27, NOT on the 25th. Second of all this card is on the contingency that the promoter is able to match the beltway area fighters up with prospects. And third of all , I spell my name the way it is spelled on my Birth Certificate and Drivers license
ReplyDeleteSo you are saying the card is happening on July 27 -- which is a SUNDAY? That would mean that Showtime, since they don't have Sunday boxing, would not be carrying the card.
ReplyDeleteI have talked to people involved in this card and the date given to me is Friday, July 25.
Where can I find that Antonio Russell fight from this years finals in Vegas ?
ReplyDeleteI don't care what the date is, somebody's "o" is gonna go because Showtime isn't going for that record padding crap!!
ReplyDeleteDeAndre said the fights are on Sunday! LMFAO "July 27th."
ReplyDeleteDC fighters who are supposedly to be on showtime. It is time to step up competition or keep fighting bums. Same shit goes to mayweather, fight pacman or hurry up and retire. I don't waste my time watching boxing when I already know the outcome.
ReplyDeleteI agree. They better step it up or look forward to that $800.00 check every 6months
ReplyDeleteThey should get Jayakody on rhe card! His fights are always very exciting and he really is drawing great crowds!
