There was one other bout featuring a Beltway Boxer tonight that we overlooked. The result was a very happy one for Beltway Boxing fans.
Baltimore super featherweight Tyrell "Da Show Shock'A" Samuel made his long-awaited return tonight at Dover Downs Hotel and Casino in Dover, DE and scored a six-round unanimous decision over local favorite Joey Tiberi of Newark, DE.
According to some reports, Samuel looked like the Samuel we saw who was the BATB Prospect of the Year in 2006 as well as the former Maryland State Featherweight champion as he returned to the ring for the first time since losing a six-round majority decision to Ryan Belasco in the very same location almost two years ago. Samuel battered Tiberi in the final round and came close to having the bout stopped but Tiberi was able to hang on. Samuel won by scores of 59-55 (twice) and 59-54.
With the win, Samuel is now 15-5-1, six KO's while Tiberi falls for just the second time in his career and he is now 12-2, six KO's.
