Harrison Heads To West Virginia May 17!

Undefeated DC welterweight Dusty Hernandez Harrison has announced via social media that he will be traveling to Chester, WVA for a bout against veteran Roberto Valenzuela of Agua Prieta, Sonora, Mexico on Saturday, May 17.

Harrison (21-0, 11 KO's) was scheduled to be on a card in Corpus Christi, TX on May 24 but an injury to one of the boxers in the main event scuttled the card. The West Virginia card will be at the Mountaineer Casino Racetrack and Resort and is co-promoted by former world champion Roy Jones, Jr.

Valenzuela (69-66-2, 56 KO's) is a true veteran who has been competing since 1992. He has won three of his last four.

This fight won't be as easy as some people think for dusty. Valenzuela has 66 losses but many to very good fighters including twice to Jose Luis Castillo former WBC lightweight champ, who a lot thought beat Mayweather in there first fight. He has also lost to former WBC and IBF welterweight champ Andre Berto, world title challengers Zahir Raheem twice, Dmitry Salita, Demetrius Hopkins as well as Dorin Spivey. Dusty should win but you never know with Valenzuela having one punch ko power with his 56 ko's in 69 wins and he won't be intimidated by dusty and roll over since he has been in with so many great fighters before. He also has incredible stamina for his age fighting 13 times in 2011 going 9-4 with 8 ko's. This is kind of fight dusty needs to keep developing and moving up the rankings against gatekeepers like him before taking on a contender. Good luck to him on Saturday!

Whatever, Dusty is going to fight as many sorry fighters as he can and make money doing it so. This fight is just another flop of competition as usual. Keep fighting bums and end up just like Tony Jeter when he fought for a real title.

Personally I have never considered any athlete trying to better himself a bum. And personally. I'd just love to see one of you anonymous critics which means a coward to me get into the ring with either Dusty or Roberto. And coming from and growing up born and raised in Southeast, D.C. as a white guy if you have a problem with that also I know that a great many African Americans are with no doubt Dusty supporters.I think a lot of it is just envy but again put your names out there because if you don't that just shows fear to me. Dusty as well as his father who I've known most of my life have come along way so don't criticize what you don't know and probably can't do. Gary. You've done an excellent job with your support of our Washingtonians and I am truly glad to have met you and can call you a friend as I do Buddy, Dusty and the hundreds of African Americans that I grew up with in the District. Respectfully, Dave Jones
