Roach Wins Unanimous Decision In Pro Debut!

Lamont Roach, Jr. has won his pro debut with a solid four-round unanimous decision over a very tough Victor Galindo.

Roach hit Galindo with numerous combinations throughout the contest.  Galindo wobbled on a couple of occasions but managed to stay upright.  Roach won by shutout, 40-36 on all three cards.  Galindo's record is now 1-4, one KO.

My work is done here for tonight.  Enjoy the telecast!

Any chance you can take a cell phone pic to go along with your posts if no photographer can assist?

Digital, whats your opinion of the matchmaking on these Golden Boy undercards? It seems like the local promoters are giving some prospects tougher tests than the big promoters. Ballard and Grayton deserve to face opponents that will help them grow. That was not the case tonight, and Mr. Roach was very upset at the outcome of D'Mitrius fight. Golden Boy can do better.

Good question. This needs to be taken on a case-by-case basis. I understand the situation with Ballard because the guy he fought with didn't really want to fight. He was looking for a way out.

Grayton's bout was late in getting made so they found the best they can at this point.

Dominic Wade fought a guy with a decent record who is known for being a tough guy. Wade did a great job in dispatching him.

I think they found the best type of opponent for Lamont Roach, Jr. in his pro debut. The bout gave Roach some rounds early, gives him no false hopes that he can knock everyone out (although Roach hit Galiendo with some shots that other guys won't be able to take)and Roach knows he still has some work to do.

I agree with some but Golden Boy is a big promotional company and they are more than able to find better opponents at the last minute. Grayson is a very good fighter and fighting guys like that does him nothing for the future, only a pay day. Getting a pay day and learning at the same time kills two birds with one stone. Just my opinion. We can agree to disagree. Rosecroft get tougher but winnable fights for our local fighters that allows them to learn and be ready when the real fight comes.

Roach Jr.looked very good and polished for such a young fighter. He landed some great shots! His opponent appeared to be bigger than him. I read that the guy out weighed Roach by 8 or 9 pounds at the weigh in.

It was a great night of boxing in DC. B-Hop is truly a alien! Unbelievable what he is doing at his age.

No it wasn't, Keystone puts on better undercards than that. Dominic and Porter were the only two fights worth seen. The other fights were sad to watch. Roach Jr looked ok. He struggle a little finishing that bum he fought but he gets a pass because it was his debut. Ballard/Day Day, they should be embarrassed to fight guys like that. The out town crew, sorry as well.
