Second Week Golden Glove Results!

More Junior Division Golden Gloves champions were crowned Saturday night during the second week of competition at the Washington Golden Gloves Championships at the Sugar Ray Leonard Boxing Center in Palmer Park, MD.

In the 10-11, 65 Pound division, Ragahleak Bartee (unattatched) won the title defeating Reginald Ransom (Charm City).

Deric Davis (Old School) took the 10-11, 75 Pound title with a win over Erick Acosta (Main Street).

Maximus Garland (Headbangers) won the 10-11, 80 Pound championship over Kessean Bagwell (Charm City).

Saquan Epps (Kenilworth) captured the 13-14, 100 Pound title with a win over Mekhi Payne-Dey (Keystone).

In the 14, 130 Pound class, Ameer Brown (The Answer) stopped Crisanto Lucio (Old School) in the third round to win the title.

Hakeem Middleton (Limelite) won the 16, 125 Pound title with a third-round stoppage of Nick Marchelli (Young Titans).

Daniel Thompson (Enigma) took the title at 16, 141 Pounds with a win over Aaron Grisby (Club One).

Stephaun Hopps (Old School) ended the Junior Division's night with a third-round stoppage of Michael Wilbar (Hagerstown) to win the title at 15, 165 Pounds.

There were a number of walkover champions as well.

10, 70 Pounds: Tyreek Williams (The Answer)

12-13, 106 Pounds:  Donte Baytop (UMAR)

12-13, 125 Pounds: Michael Tymas (Langdon)

14, 120 Pounds: Gregory Burton (Langdon)

14-15, 150 Pounds:  Jaseye Stephens (Hagerstown)

Here are results from the Novice Division as the following boxers moved into the next round:

123 Pounds: Preston Gatling (Hillcrest) over Dionte Lovelace (Headbangers)

141 Pounds:  Siprano Zeledon (Headbangers) RSC-3 over Hoang Pho (D-Block)

152 Pounds: Shynggyskhan Tazhibay (Raw Assassin) RSC-1 over Yohanes Rezene (Sugar Ray Leonard)

152 Pounds: Derek Gibson (Down Under) over Joshua Lee (UMAR)

165 Pounds: Dayshawn Jones (UMAR) over Jesse Singletary (D-Block)

Two boxers won by walkover in the Novice Division:

141 Pounds: Gregory Blankney (Dream Team)

165 Pounds: Antonio Pennix (First Class)

Only one bout took place in the Open Division on Saturday.  That bout was in the 165 Pound class as Maiwak Dagoot (Down Under) won over Jason Bell (No Xcuse).

Two other open boxers won by walkover:

123 Pounds: Hector Soto (Down Under)

141 Pounds: Gary Antuanne Russell (Enigma)

The Washington Golden Gloves Championship Tournament continues on Saturday, March 8 at 7:30 PM at the Sugar Ray Leonard Boxing Center.
