Post-Fight From Rosecroft and San Diego!

Here is the recap from Friday night's Keystone Boxing card from Rosecroft Raceway in Fort Washington, MD:

Mike "Yes, Indeed" Reed of Waldorf, MD won a six-round unanimous decision over "Rebellious" Bilal Mahasin in the junior welterweight main event.  Reed won by scores of 60-54 (twice) and 59-55 to raise his record to 8-0, five KO's.  Mahasin loses for the first time in his pro career and he is now 4-1.

In one co-feature, "The Baby-Face Assassin" Yurii Polischuk of Lanham, MD stopped Baltimore, MD's Kevin "The Scarecrow" Womack, Jr. in a welterweight contest at 1:39 of the third round.  Polischuk dropped Womack early in the third and pressured Womack for the stoppage.  Polischuk is now 3-1-1, two KO's.  Womack is 4-4-1, two KO's.

The other co-feature was a great six-round encounter won by Catonsville, MD lightweight Joshua Davis who earned a split decision over a very game Joel Flores of Hart, MI.  Davis was able to knock Flores down in the sixth and that may have been the difference in the judges's scorecards.  Davis is now 6-1, three KO's while Flores is 4-5, three KO's.

Landover, MD junior middleweight "The Cuban Assassin" Larry Recio scored his second straight knockout win stopping Chicago, IL's debuting Mike Santiago at the end of the second round.  Recio dropped the former MMA competitor twice in the second and ringside doctors would not allow Santiago to come out for the third.  Recio remains undefeated at 4-0, three KO's.

Fort Washington, MD bantamweight Marq "The Monster" Johns stopped Gabriel Braxton of Ellenswood, GA at 1:01 of the second round.  Johns landed a solid overhead right to drop Braxton, who beat the count but was unfit to continue.  Johns is 2-0-1, two KO's while Braxton is 0-2.

DC-based junior middleweight "Mr. Hollywood" Charlie Natal won a four-round unanimous decision over Dontre "Pound For Pound" King of Cambridge, MD.  Natal won by shutout on all three cards.  Natal is 3-0-1.  King falls to 7-15-2, three KO's.

Meanwhile at the Pala Resort and Casino near San Diego, CA, DC welterweight Dusty Hernandez Harrison survived a second-round knockdown to win a six-round unanimous decision over Michael Balasi of Honolulu, HI.  Harrison scored a knockdown in the second round before tasting the canvas himself.  Harrison won by scores of 59-54 (twice) and, somehow, 60-53.  Harrison remains undefeated at 21-0, 10 KO's.  Balasi falls to 10-4, seven KO's.

Here is the Post-Fight Wrap-Up where I am joined once again at ringside by Juan Marshall.

This must be someone I know because you posted anonymously. Not hating on Dusty at all!!! I want to see him become a champion and he has been fighting for a long time to be only 19 years old. People are going to start questioning his record when it's time to face the top talent in his weight class. He's 21-0 now and Jeff Fried is going to want to see a good return on his investment soon. Again I'm not hating why would you even think that?

Today somebody told me that Jimmy Lange has fought way tougher opponents then Dusty Harrison recently and has a bigger national fanbase. I told him first of all why you even comparing them when Jimmy is twice his age and has twice as many fights? It's like comparing apples to oranges in terms of where they are in there careers. Second I told him both those statements are false. Dusty's last 7 opponents have combined record of 79-35-4 while Jimmy's last 7 opponents have combined record of 129-120-12. Dusty has fought 12 times outside of dmv in 21 fights and Jimmy has fought only 6 times outside of dmv in 45 fights including only once since The Contender a decade ago.

Juan, just got busted. Dumb M/F. He did a post wrap up talking about a dozen or more DMV boxers. Someone posting "Stop Hatin" Juan responds about Dusty. Who the hell even mentioned Dusty? Damn! You really do dislike the kid.

I was thinking the same, but your right cuz first I thought post was kevin Womack. lmao

Stop posting anonymously so I can talk to the person that disagrees with me, and I never said anything negative about any of the fighters. Just gave mythoughts about all the fights that toom place that night. So this anonymous person must be tbe real hater. I take the good with the bad. I kind of know who this person is because of the time frame they are on line.

OMG you guys sound like little girls.

Mr. Marshall helps all the fighters in the DMV area. The times I talked to him he always talked about how he wants every fighter to do good. It's two guys that cover the fighters the most in the area Mr. Williams and Mr. Marshall. Mr. Marshall went from covering one fighter to co ering the entire DMV area. I like what they do. Mr. Marshall keep doing what you do because I'm sure that someone is upset because it's a lot of people that appreciate you. I listened to the post fight wrap up and you just said exactly what Teddy was saying throughout Dusty fight. Personally I think Dusty needs a trainer to show him a few more things while his dad manages. Also I hope you continue to improve in your health.

You're right but if you can't post using your name then stop posting anonymously. What's the point?

Juan does an excellent job covering the DMV fights. One cannot fault the guy for not being a fan of Dusty's. So what that he said some harmful comments. Does he not have the right to dislike the young man? I'm sure that all of us also dislike another somewhere. You cannot fault him for not being a fan. You must remember, Juan has some health issues, yet he still covers the fights. We need to appreciate him and anyone else who helps our local guys. He can still help without being a fan of certain fighters. Yes he did say some things that sounded somewhat hateful, but he does not owe any of us of anything. We all have someone in our lives that we are not fond of. What matters here the most, is that he keeps us up to date in the boxing world.

I don't dislike Dusty at all. I'm just talking boxing. In order to understand boxing you have to see it for what it is and not as a fan. Boxing gas changed a lot and it's about seeing the best fights. Promoters want to present a good fight to the fans and make money by putting on the best fights. Sorry if someobe was offended that I said it's time for Dusty to step it up, but it's part of the boxing business. Building a record time is over. Dusty proved he can beat class B & C fighters. Time to see if he is ready for class A fighter and nake the big time money. I would love to see him fight the best and hold his own. He's been fighting from the time he could walk. If it was up to Dusty I think he would have been fighting the best a while ago.

Dusty just got rocked by a 10-2 fighter. How in the hell can you ask him to fight an A-class fighter. I like the kid, but that has got to be the dumbest fucken comment I've ever read. I change my mind about doing the DMV good. WTF A class fighters are Floyd, Manny, Bradley, are you stupid or what, they would punish Dusty til no end. He got hammered Friday night by a guy with 13 fights.

Gary Digital Williams said...

I think we are, or should be, talking about A class in the prospect division. Not in the elite class you are talking about.

I'd even accept someone who has a similar record as Harrison but who has taken a similar path as Harrison.

gary is right but juan is way off talking about a class fighters and making the big money. juan clearly says fight the best to see if he can hold his own. dusty is not even ready for other young guys starting out. hes been down a few times, once by a 2-5 guy. I cant even understand why this conversion is happening. they no they are not ready. that's why they are building him. dusty is not even ready for the undefeated welter weight from Baltimore. forgot his name.

Juan Marshall said...

Yes I did say it wrong. I should have said of equal talent. That way Dusty can move at the right pace and not fight guys like Floyd, Danny and the other clear class A fighters.

Dusty hasn't fought a C-Class fighter yet. He hasn't proved he can beat a class B or C prospect yet. Teddy Atlas was on point about him.

Juan Marshall said...

I think Dusty has fought class B&C fighters already. He defeated those guys like he should have.
