Taylor Drops Unanimous Decision in New York!

Emanuel "Tranzformer" Taylor has lost a 10-round unanimous decision to undefeated Chris Algieri tonight at the Paramount Theater in Huntington, NY.

Taylor, much like his first loss to Prenice Brewer in November of 2011, got off to a very slow start in the contest.  Taylor seemed to do better in the middle rounds but could not pick up the pace any more and Algieri, who showed some very quick and accurate hands throughout the contest, coasted to the victory.

The judge's scorecards were 98-92 and 97-93 (twice).  Taylor's record drops to 17-2, 12 KO's.  Algieri is now 19-0, eight KO's.

man maybe i am missing something but this kid taylor is not what i thought he was. I took him as a top ten fighter but he is basically a above c level fighter almost a b fighter for he let this guy dictate the fight and too be honest he didnt win no more than 2 rounds at the most. Not mean enough forget about touching gloves and being nice fight is what is it.

Manny looked out of sync like he wasn't ready for the challenge. He looked slow and methodical tonight, hopefully he'll get another shot

Gary, will you have a chance to talk to Taylor and his camp? He looked weak in there last night.

completely wrong style for skill set. hes young and fast with fast hands and fast feet and he can move. he fights like a slow methodical brawler would fight. he puts on the earmuffs and brawls and lets the other guy dictate the pace. if the other guy doesn't run out of gas he gets picked apart. if they got that kid moving around the ring, moving in and out and working in behind a jab, he'd really be something. he goes to the body nice and has good power. such a shame. the way they have this kid fighting is like taking a fast break basketball team full of high flyers and road runners and have them run a slow down half court game. it's just wrong.

I think Manny is extremely talented but he lost this fight because he had the wrong game plan. Looked to me that he stayed on the defense for way too long and waited for counterpunch opportunities that never came. Granted, the guy he fought was way bigger than him (looked like two different weight classes to me). However, Manny had the speed to punch first and set the tempo from the beginning, and he failed to do that consistently. The other guy had a decent jab but, just like Teddy Atlas said in the pre-fight promo (and I hate to admit that I agree with Teddy Atlas), Manny should be staying close to this guy and take the fight to him inside. That, unfortunately did not happen. I hope that Manny's trainers read this and respond, because I really think that the kid has real potential.

He suffers from same problem that kept Alvin Anderson Vernon Mason and Larry Middleton from reaching their potential. Bad management long layoffs and fighting in opponents back yard. 11 month layoff .managers job to find tune ups. do not sign with promoters that will not look out for you. looks like Star Boxing got what they wanted. a win for the white ticket seller.

Or the white ticket seller fought a better fight because....he is a better fighter. Taylor is a club fighter. He couldn't carry Ishmael Arvin's jock strap.

Forget the white ticket seller crap as race only becomes an issue if you want to make it one. In boxing, two guys are in the ring fighting each other. The color of skin does not matter. Now, having the right game plan does matter. Manny is a very, very skilled boxer. We did not see his true talent last night because he did not consistently take the fight to his opponent, because he did not get off his punches first, and because he did not fight on the inside. Give Manny another shot at this guy and, if Manny's trainers step back and take a reality check in terms of how to prepare him to fight, no matter who the promoter is or where the fight is held and Manny wins. Plain and simple.

Manny had a lot going against him.
fighting a much bigger guy with 7in reach advantage. looked like he out weighted him by 15lbs. strong bastard.home field advantage.coming off 11 month layoff. and looked over trained. dry as a bone.gave to much away.he needs to fight at home for awhile.string some wins together.knocking people out.his manager needs to put a group together and run shows here. get that confidence back. he is only 23.stil has a chance
