Harrison To Make ESPN2 Debut January 31 in New Jersey!

BATB has learned that undefeated DC welterweight Dusty Hernandez Harrison will make his national television debut on an ESPN2 card on Friday, January 31 at the Richard J. Codey Arena in West Orange, NJ.

Harrison (19-0, 11 KO's) will face Philadelphia, PA's Tim Witherspoon, Jr. (10-3-1, two KO's) in an eight-round contest that will open the telecast.

Harrison, the Beltway Boxing Prospect of the Year in 2013, is coming off a first-round TKO over Marlon Lewis on November 22 in Dover, DE.  Witherspoon, the son of the former WBC Heavyweight champion, last fought on June 27 and won a four-round unanimous decision over Josh Beeman in Essington, PA.

Witherspoon made his pro debut against a Beltway Boxer, losing a four-round unanimous decision to Tyrell Samuel in Philadelphia in June of 2005.

Harrison will be the third Beltway Boxer scheduled to appear on national TV in January.  Antoine Douglas will appear on Showtime's ShoBox series on Friday, January 17.  Lamont Peterson will defend his IBF Junior Welterweight championship on Saturday, January 25 on Showtime Championship Boxing from the DC Armory.  There may be other locals on that card that will appear on the Showtime Extreme channel but nothing is confirmed as of yet.

We are also hearing that a fourth Beltway Boxer may appear on TV this month as well.  We'll keep you posted.

Tim is not a step up fight. He had a very short amateur career. SMH. Well good job getting him to this point.

All the Witherspoons can fight. Team Dusty has chosen the wrong guy this time. Dusty is still too damn young to compete with grown men who have also been boxing all their lives. Dusty only accepted this fight because of the money. He is you though, so he will be able to bounce back as long as he does not get hurt too bad.

Not only did Tim Witherspoon Jr. (10-3-1, 2 KOs) have superior speed and technique in his four round welterweight bout with Josh Beeman (4-12-4, 2 KOs), he also had the advantage of having his dad, two-time world heavyweight champion “Terrible” Tim Witherspoon giving him advice between rounds.

Witherspoon Jr. had too many guns for the game but slower Beeman. He easily won the first two rounds, applying an impressive body attack and movement which kept Beeman guessing.

Round three was closer, with Beeman possibly having the edge with his left hooks and body shots, but Witherspoon Jr. came right back in round four to win the fight by the scores of 40-36 on all three cards

Tim Witherspoon Jr is very tough and this might be the challenge he needs to show his potential. I know him from the gym and he seems to rise to the occasion when he spars with world class fighters like Hank Lundy, and Terrance Cauthen. I think if Tim comes out fast and catches Dusty with an overhand right it may be a short night.

Sparring and fighting are two different things. Timmy gettin whooped! I can't even believe this is a discussion. Y'all stupid

You may be surprised. Tim, on an off night, lost a close split decision to Tevin Farmer. I saw the fight and it could of gone either way. Tevin is now 14 and 4 and has defeated some pretty good opponents. I am saying that if Tim is having a good night he could be a winner.

Ok...that's 1 of the 3 bums he lost to. Let's talk about his most recent. Ramon Ellis, 4-10-2. Not only is he a bum, but he got beat by other bums! So not only is Timmy a bum, but he also gets beat by other bums. This isn't even open for discussion.

First of all you can't call a guy who puts his heart and soul into a sport like boxing, even if he has 0 wins, a bum. That's not fair; it takes a winner just to climb in the ring and compete. I know Tim from the gym, since he was an amateur, and I sparred with him and the guys from his team on many occasions. I can tell you that Tim has allot going for him. Most of all he has heart. When he gets hit he keeps on coming and the more he gets hit he comes on stronger. Don't count this guy out. I have seen him on many occasions show what it takes to win this fight.

Well then if he keeps gettin stronger the more he gets hit, he gonna turn into the Incredible Hulk this fight, cuz he gonna get a whole lotta gettin hit!

Look who tim has fought. He hasnt fought very good opponents and the losses he took were from not very good opponents. Dusty on the other hand has been steppin up his game fighting better opponents every fight. This should be a tough fight for dusty but I believe he will get the Win!

I don't think this is a tuff fight at all... Dusty will for sure,100% get a KO. I don't think this is a step up for dusty at all... Now on other note...I know dusty is young but I want to see him fight some better opponents... He's going down the Adrienne broner path... Getting all this hype when he has fought nobody... Don't get me wrong he fought good against the people he has fought but I never seen someone get the hype he's getting off of fighting bar fighter... Time to step up team dusty... I'm not impressed at all

you are very impressed cuz yo strolled down to see his comments. hes 19 and he moving along just fine. that's right look at broner, he screwed up.

It sounds like you two guys should get into the ring. Such anger, such passion, this can be one of the all time greats. Maybe I can be the promoter and make all the money.
