A number of Beltway Boxing fans have asked when is Edgewood, MD junior welterweight Emmanuel "Tranzformer" Taylor scheduled to return to action. Taylor (17-1, 12 KO's) scored two very important wins on national television in 2013 stopping Raymond Serrano on Showtime in the sixth round on January 25 at the Paramount Theater in Huntington, NY and then coming off the canvas to score an eighth-round TKO over Victor Cayo on ESPN2 on March 8 in Atlantic City.
Taylor had at least one more bout slated for 2013 but the bout fell through. Now, however, Taylor will return to headline an ESPN2 card from the Paramount on Friday, February 21. That is a recent change of date. The original date was to be January 24.
Taylor will face undefeated Chris Algieri of Huntington, NY (18-0, eight KO's) in a 10-round contest. Algieri will compete at the Paramount for the eighth consecutive time. The first bout in the streak was a 10-round unanimous decision victory over Bayan Jargal in November of 2011.
