Harrison Stops Lewis in One; Guerrero Wins Unanimous Decision in Delaware!

(Photos by Juan Marshall)

At Dover Downs Hotel and Casino tonight, DC welterweight Dusty Hernandez Harrison scored a very easy first-round TKO over an overwhelmed Marlon Lewis of Memphis, TN.

Harrison just battered Lewis all over the ring, knocking Lewis down three times before the bout was stopped at 2:20.

Harrison is now 19-0, 11 KO's while Lewis falls to 6-3-2, three KO's.

Also tonight, Delmar, MD cruiserweight Alex Guerrero overcame a very nasty cut over his right eye to win a six-round unanimous decision over veteran Galen "Bad Boy" Brown of St. Joseph, MO.

Guerrero was in control throughout the contest pressuring Brown and using a nice left jab.  In the fifth round, the two clashed heads and that's when Guerrero suffered the deep cut.  Brown, however, could not take advantage of the cut.

Guerrero won by scores of 60-54, 59-55 and 58-56 to remain undefeated at 10-0-1, five KO's.  Brown is now 41-24-1, 24 KO's.

Santana Takes Out Clark In Dover

Edgar “El Chamaco” Santana, 29-4-(20), cliamed the vacant NABA light welterweight title with stunning first round ko victory of Michael “Cold Blood” Clark, 44-9-1-(18), in the 10 round main event at the beautiful Rollins Center in the Dover Downs Casino on Friday.

Santana eventually took control of the brief encounter by battering Clark before decking him with big right hand. Referee Vic de Wysocki counted Clarke out after 2:27 of the opening round. Clark was worryingly laid out for what seemed like forever but thankfully rose to his feet and was escorted to his corner.

On the undercard Omar “Super O” Douglas won the vacant NABA US super featherweight title with a third round stoppage win over Jean “Evangelista” Sotelo. Douglas softened Sotelo with hooks to the body in the opening round before dropping him in the corner with a hard left to the head followed by a combination of body shots in the second. Sotelo survived the knockdown but Douglas was relentless until Sotelo’s corner threw in the towel after 2:33 of the third round.

Dusty Harrison basically walked through Lewis like wet toilet paper. He punished his body and just absolutely punished him, dropping him 3 times and stopping him late in the first round.

Cruiserweight Alexis Guerrero had to struggle with Galen Brown who did not come to lay down. Alex cut Brown in the second and brown returned the favor by cutting Alex in the third, however, the cut suffered by Alex was a very bad cut. Brown was competitive throughout this contest seeming to buzz Alex substantially in the third. Guerrero was very determined and in the end carried the favor of the judges on the score cards. To my eyes the fight was a pick em to the very end.
Travis Reeves was clearly out for blood in his bout and made quick work of undefeated Cruiser weight Lamont Singletary. Singletary, fighting in his home, came to the ring in high spirits and literally danced his way into the ring, He left the ring, devastated by receiving his first professional loss and by devastating ko.
In the first half minute of the fight, Singletary landed a good counter left hook that looked very hard. Well what did he do that for? This shot made Travis kick his aggression up to maximum level, which left Singletary helpless and defenseless against the ropes forcing the ref. save him from further devastation. There was a quote in the movie the Klumps which went: " you gon walk over but you gon crawl back". And that is what it was.....
