Undefeated two-time world female middleweight champion Tori "Sho Nuff" Nelson of Ashburn, VA will vie for her third world title when she faces Aleksandra Magdziak Lopes of Marshfield, MA for the vacant WIBA Welterweight title on September 13 at the Twin River Event Center in Lincoln, RI.
Nelson (6-0-3) is the current WIBA Middleweight champion and a former WBC Middleweight titleholder. Nelson has not fought since competing in the second of her two draws against Teresa Perozzi on February 2 in Pembroke, Bermuda. Nelson is a replacement for Lisa Garland who suffered an injury training for her first bout since competing in DC on June 8.
Lopes (10-1, one KO) has won 10 straight contests since losing her pro debut in March of 2009. Lopes is coming off an eight-round unanimous decision victory over Kita Watkins on April 20 in Derry, NH.
Update: BATB has learned that the title bout for Jennifer Salinas has been pushed back from September 14 to October 5 in Santa Cruz, Bolivia.
