Local Beltway Vets Look to Get Out-Of-Town Wins in June!

Two Beltway Boxers we haven't heard from in a while will try to turn things around in bouts coming in June.

On Friday, June 7 at the Turning Stone Casino in Verona, NY, DC super bantamweight Yieta Johnson will face undefeated John Franklin of Kansas City, MO in a four-round contest.  Johnson (2-3, two KO's) has not fought since being knocked out in the first round by Raul Lopez in January of 2010 in New York City.  Johnson has never gone the distance in any of his previous bouts.  Both of his wins and all three of his losses have been by knockout.

Then on Saturday, June 8 at the Civic Center in Biloxi, MS, DC cruiserweight Richard McCombs makes his return to the ring and he will face debuting former amateur standout Javonte Charles of Memphis, TN.  McCombs (1-3, one KO) has not fought since losing by first round TKO to Mario Flores in November of 2010 at DC Star (now known as EchoStage) in DC.  McCombs is a relative of former WBC Welterweight champion Maurice Blocker.

  1. Gary this fight can give me a career if God willing I win.I am prepared to fight hard as the date of the fight is the day my mother died in 2011. I am very aware of my position coming in but I sure plan to roar up and upset. God bless us all and may we all continue to support and encouraged one another.
