Russell, Harris Win USA National Titles!

Beltway Boxers have won two more USA Boxing National Championships in Spokane, WA.

In the Senior Men's 123 Pound Division, Gary Antonio Russell captured the crown with a 2-1 decision over Sharone Carter of St. Louis, MO.

Patrick Harris of Hyattsville, MD won the Senior Men's 141 Pound bracket by disqualification over Robert O'Quinn of Lansing, MI.  No word yet on what caused the DQ.

Marquis Moore of Fort Washington, MD who now fights out of the Fort Carson Army Base in Colorado, lost his title bid at 165 Pounds by a 3-0 decision to Christopher Galeano of Bronx, NY.

The Beltway now has four national champions with four more boxers trying for titles later tonight.  Malik Jackson competes in the Elite Men's 114 Pounds championship while Tiara Brown, Franchon Crews and Dara Shen all look for titles in women's action.

What's the difference between the elite men's division and senior men's division?

Senior men are punks and will never be recognized by USA boxing it's pointless for them to even compete they can't advance on the international stage they can't call them selves the best in the country only the A class fighters can the Elite Fighters shout out to Malik Jackson

no the seniors are not punks imo many are going pro and are avoiding cuts.... they are not staying amatuer so why fight no headgear? they fought headgear to still get that last experience so they shall still be considered national champions

The elite division would have been a good test before the pro level and what happens when they get a bad cut on the pro level it's no difference if u plan on going pro u should fight in the elite division of the amateurs it's good practice when u first turn pro u have more of a risk to get a cut fighting wild bums and u still not gonna make much to start off so don't say they will be getting paid for it when all they are gonna be making is McDonald's money when they first start off

Funny how you armchair punks are insulting the senior men's division. Calling them punks and how you dont respect them is pathetic. It's easy to call people punks with the protection of being anonymous on the internet.

the senior men look to go pro, if you go elite you look to the next olympics, if you go elite you might get a bad cut and may fight multiple days with a cut w/o stitches and your pro career is affected, when you fight pro you can go to the hosptal right after!!!! little money or not you get paid so i give full credit to the seniors as national champions and armchair punks like you dont kno the little elements behind things, nonetheless goodluck to jackson and others in the worlds i give all respect!!

Either pro or amatuer your career can be affected by a head butt or cut dummy in the amatuers u have doctors there to decide weather or not if u receive a bad cut if u need to go to the hospital dummy I'm sure USA boxing is well prepared for cuts this is not their first rodeo without headgear dummy the senior men did not fight the best in the country and in the 2012 PAL tournament when they fought the top dogs in the country they lost point blank the senior divisions were weak dummy c class fighters

the winner of the 165 pound senior men lost in the semis of 2012 us championships by tiebreaker, lost in the 2012 pals quarters to the elite champion on a very questionble call and avenged that lost twice [leshawn rodriquez and galeano] galeano is very good and marquez at 152 was a finalist at previous tourneys, nelson at 178 was robbed at the finals of 2012 usa championships vs marcus browne, gary russell has won previous tourneys, charles williams and stephen shaw are top known amatuers so that point is very untrue

It don't make you soft because you decided to box with a headgear. Boxing is a tough sport as it is, and a it takes a special person to do it. It's a hole lot of hating going around the DMV. This senior and elite shit has given us another reason hate on the boxer instead of applauding them for the efforts.

GOOD JOB D.M.V.

got word the winners of elite are automatically the ones going for the next olympic, isnt fair for great fighters such as lubin, roach and sheilds, with that if you are going pro it was good to go senior, dont diminish a persons hard work just becuase they won a national title, its a dream for many kids and for you to discriminate that is unfair soooo...... go that way --->

One thing that I teach at gym is integrity. When teams go out of town together, I (Coach Roach) consider all of being together. One thing I don't do is to hate on other gym's. These gym's are saving kids "LIVES" from the inside out. I am one of them kids myself, that what the US ARMY done for me through Boxing. So, my main priority is to give, live and impact these kids lives on a positive thought through "BOXING." I don't get on hear to much, but when I do. I put my name on it. That other stuff that was put on hear, wasn't from No"X"CUSE. Peace & Increase

How can that be possible when they have the USA tournament every year what if those elite fighters that won this year lose in the USA tournament next year then what do they still automatically go to the Olympics
