Stiff Jab Site Names Harrison Prospect of the Year!

The boxing blog Stiff Jab, headed by Beltway-based writer Gautham Nagesh, has named undefeated DC welterweight Dusty Harrison its Prospect of The Year for 2012.

Stiff Jab credited Harrison (11-0, seven KO's) with making the jump from four to eight rounds as well as recovering from his first adversity -- the sixth-round knockdown suffered in his bout against Marques Jackson.

Here is the article:

  1. Is Harrison fighting on the Peterson vs. Holt card? If so, is his fight also televised? Do you have a list of the under-card? How much are tickets and are they on sale yet? Will the fight be held at the Verizon Centre or the Convention Centre? ESPN usually holds its fights on Fridays-correct?

  2. 1. Harrison is not slated to be on this card.

    2. The undercard has not been announced as of yet.

    3. Look at a post further down. Tickets went on sale this past Monday.

    4. The bout will be held on a Friday and it will be held at the DC Armory.

  3. Thank You Mr. Williams, I found the tickets and am delighted with the $25.00 prices. DC Armory also seems to be a great venue compared to a friday night at the Convention Centre. The traffic is no joke in The District. The fight is 3 weeks away and I hope you post the under-card soon. I've seen the crowds that Harrison draws; so I am some-what surprised of no announcment made as of yet concerning the under-card.

  4. I've made inquires about when the undercard will be announced. Hopefully it will be soon.

  5. By the way, the card is scheduled to begin at 5 PM with the TV broadcast to get underway at 9 PM.

  6. the great thing about espn. they give tickets away to make place look busy on tv. i remember last time here and in new york. they make all the money off being on air live not tickets. if we just wait the night of fight. we get in free. they also will move us all closer to the ring right before main event. the boxing fans of Dc deserve it. keystone never ever gave away free tickets. this is

  7. Stop hating on keystone! Keystone does not have our gets tv money either. Support the only promoter in the dmv putting on shows regularly to build our young fighters. Tough fights or not, the fighters are getting experience and its a win win situation for all. Looking forward to see lamont peterson fight again.

  8. Keystones don't support all the young fighters they pick who they want

    ReplyDelete
  9. Well thats not true, we at keystone will put anyone on the shows, we are looking to showcase new talent all the time.

    1. That's a lie I know first hand . That's why me and my people don't support keystones

    2. Sorry to say keystones mind well be called dusty cause that's all they care about . They even made a dumb belt for him. No hate towards dusty cause dusty is a cool person but it's better Talent in the DMV then just dusty. And not taking anything away from him but who did he fight to even make a belt up for him. I'm just speaking the truth

  10. Tell us who you are asn we can put you on, i never told anyone they couldnt get on!

  11. Just know a person like myself and other DMV fighters that's not on keystones cards will shine cause everything happens for a reason and plus god is in control.

    ReplyDelete
  12. well I cant speak to dealing before I was at Keystone, but in the future if any fighter or manager wants to get on please call me at 571 839 5162.... Remeber this though we can oonly put 8 fights on a card.

Here it is out there for anyone, now if you want the fights get at me

    ReplyDelete
  13. The only reason Dusty will even be on the ESPN card is because he sells so many tickets. His ass ain't no champion for real.

    ReplyDelete
  14. the kid does have a big following. i'd put his butt on my shows too. could care less who he fights. i want to make money. f*&% it, he fights, then everyone else gets to fight. i'm better than he is, but ill ride his coat tail to make me some money.

    ReplyDelete
  15. The reason that Harrison, Venroy, and The Greek are on everyones wish list is because the promoter does not want to lose money. You cannot and should not blame the promter for choosing ticket sellers to be on their show. ESPN might not care as much as our local promoters do, so you may see any local fighter. Hopefully they do not put ticket sellers on this show so that we may all get in free again like last time.

  19. Dusty hurt Danny Garcia in sparring. That's why they sent him home and Danny pulled out and he sparred southpaw. Dusty a beast.

    ReplyDelete
  20. the dusty can sold out boxing shows, that's all they care about. He makes big money .

    ReplyDelete
  21. harrison was let go from Garcia camp because Danny had troubled dealing with his south paw stance coupled with his height. It was chop chop who hurt Danny's ribs, not Harrison. Garcia is 5.9 and Harrison is 6 foot. Zab Judah is only 5.7 and it made no sense in sparring a 6 foot south paw to get ready for zab. I look for Harrison to wind up being a middle weight by mid 2014 wich his height and south paw stance would still create problems for pope ants.

  22. Congrats to Dusty! He had a good year.

  29. Let’s conduct a more thorough examination into the lives of dirt-brains. Dirt-brains have allowed their clear-thinking abilities to become muddied. Once the dirt begins to settle into their brains (due to a lack of brainwashing), they begin to lose awareness, in regards to what a “clean-brain” feels like. As they associate with other dirt-brains, they begin to swap dirt, creating a virtual army of dirt-brains.

Dirt-brains are consistently projecting negative energy. They not only swap dirt with other dirt-brains, they attract new dirt-brains by poisoning their “clean-brains” with their dirt-brain contamination.

    This is called “hating.”

When a dirt-brain chooses to project his negative energy—in the form of gossip, slander, or libel—he has become your “hater.” Haters and dirt-brains can always be found in the same circles, because they’re of the same breed. Birds of a feather flock together. However, dirt-brains and haters have a cleverly disguised secret: They’re absolutely miserable.

Clean-brained humans are typically proactive and positive. Their decisions are based on whether or not something is fair, honest, mutually beneficial, uplifting, joyous, generous, inspirational or compassionate. These types of humans are usually in “good-feeling” places, generally upbeat and easy to get along with.

Dirt-brained humans (and haters) are the exact opposite. Their lives are full of selfishness, misery, disappointment, gossip, drama, betrayal, deception, meanness, evil thoughts and malicious actions. They’re “caught in the Matrix.” They’re stuck in the world of ego.

When the ego rules your life, you’ll do anything to protect it. The ego is your source of strength—although it’s an illusory form of strength. The ego will dictate what types of people you associate with, so you’ll gravitate towards other ego-driven, miserable dirt-brains. As soon as somebody ruffles your ego’s feathers, you’ll begin your attack. The “hating” will begin.

For the clean-brained humans, you’re not immune from the attacks of dirt-brained haters. They can sense something about you that they wished they had. There’s something about you that they envy, even if they don’t consciously realize that they’re envious. However, the dirt brain haters on this blog have did Harrison a favor. He has became a "Ghetto Super-Star". This joker is getting rich off of your hate.

  31. Romans 1:29-32

They were filled with all manner of unrighteousness, evil, covetousness, malice. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, maliciousness. They are gossips, slanderers, haters of God, insolent, haughty, boastful, inventors of evil, disobedient to parents, foolish, faithless, heartless, ruthless. Though they know God's decree that those who practice such things deserve to die, they not only do them but give approval to those who practice them.

  36. It's quite obvious that this youngster has a team that cares about his well being. Instead of allowing your jealous ways to disrupt your life, you should instead take notes and learn from him. Yes, I admit that Harrison probably climbed to the top because of his huge amateur back-ground plus his model-type looks. However, you can make it too regardless of being not so gifted. Plenty of fighters have made it in this sport by not giving up and looking forward without worrying themselves to death about what another is doing. He was tagged the DMV King because he was such a major force in bringing boxing back to Washington DC. I am quite sure that the DMV has plenty of other decent welter-weights. On the other hand, I'm quite sure that Harrison tops the list by far. At 18 years old, even his haters secretley admire him.

Mike reed and allen russell better spen a few more years in the amateurs. real talk-they ain't ready for this big-boy shit. watch what happens when they get cracked by a pro. they gonna fold.look what happen to Spencer and all the hype. same thing with sawyer.

  48. Well I do not know who is better, I don't think they ever fought each other because of the big age difference. 5 years. I do not that the team dusty has is more advanced. Plus mike reed is 2 weight classes above dusty. I do know that mike reed beat one of the Russell's 3 times and all of them were pretty good boxers.

  50. Dusty looks okay, but is unfortunatlly yet another stay at home fighter. His profile could well do with a couple of fights abroad. Canada, the UK & mainland Europe could all provide some good oppertunitie’s to expand his experiance & exposure + add to his as yet undefeated record. It’s about time British, American, European & Canadian + South African & Australian/NZ promotors got together to showcase up & coming talent the World over.

    ReplyDelete
  51. I have watched Dusty from the beginning. The thing that stands out to me, is his class. He is a remarkable young man, with a winning smile He handles himself very well when being spoken to or interviewed. A touch of class.

I am not an authority on boxing, but I can tell you this. He will go a long way in this sport, because he is so extremely hard to hit. He is very fast, and ring wise, and listens to his trainer. He has such a large following. At all of his fights, the young people are wearing “Team Dusty” T-shirts. At his young age, people line up for his aujtographs after his fights. Almost like a Rock Star. After his boxing career, if they want to make a movie of his life, he would have to play himself, because of his looks and winning smile!

Fried & Company been around for years and they will end up making this kid a world-known-Super-Star. They have the funds to make sure it happens. Fried aready has the kid in college before his first fight. Jeff Fried is brilliant. He obviously has a plan and from his past record, it's a sure bet that Harrison will succeed.
