Recap From Rosecroft!

Here's the recap from the Keystone Boxing card at Rosecroft Raceway in Fort Washington, MD:

Forestville, MD junior middleweight Alantez "SlyAza" Fox won a six-round unanimous decision over "Relentless" Julius Kennedy of Fredrick, MD.  Fox won by scores of 58-56, 59-55 and 60-54.  Fox remains undefeated at 9-0-1, four KO's while Kennedy is now 7-3-1, three KO's.

Palmer Park, MD super featherweight Kevin "K-Smoov" Rivers, Jr. scored a second-round knockout over Giovanni Vasquez of Columbia, SC.  The bout was stopped at 1:11 of the round.  Rivers is now 4-0, three KO's while Vasquez falls to 0-3.

Accokeek, MD junior middleweight "Swift" Jarrett Hurd wins a four-round unanimous decision over Trenton Titsworth of Omaha, NE.  Hurd won a 40-34 decision on all judges cards as Titsworth lost two points for holding. Hurd's record rises to 4-0, three KO's while Titsworth is now 5-15-1, two KO's.

DC super middleweight "The King's Son" Jerry Odom needed just one minute to stop Anthony Madden of Biloxi, MS.  Odom dominated the short contest primarily with body shots.  Odom is 2-0, two KO's, one NC while Madden is 0-3.

DC light heavyweight Greg Newby won a four-round unanimous decision over the always unorthodox John "The Baptist" Terry of Portsmouth, VA.  Newby won by shutout (40-36) on all judges's scorecards.  Newby is now 5-0, three KO's while Terry falls to 4-26-3, one KO.

District Heights, MD lightweight Renaldo "Misunderstood" Gaines scored his first professional knockout with a third-round stoppage of Baltimore's Darrell "Bad Azz" Martin.  The bout was stopped at 23 seconds of the third round.  Gaines is now 4-0-1, one KO. Martin is 4-14, one KO.

Landover, MD junior welterweight D'Andre Davis won his pro debut with a second-round TKO over Coy Lambert of Summerville, SC.  After a quick-handed pummeling by Davis, Lambert's corner stopped the contest at 44 seconds of the second.  Lambert is 1-6.

Capitol Heights, MD cruiserweight Mario Murphy also won his first pro encounter with a tough-four-round unanimous decision over Lamont Capers of Tobyhanna, PA.  Murphy won by scores of 39-37 across the board.  Capers is 1-1.

Nice event, nice crowd!

The show was a great success. There was a great crowd and it appears that Dusty not fighting on the show had no effect of the turn out. I was really confused because Dusty trains out of rosecroft and I thought it would have been a good coming out performance for his hometown but it appears he was not missed. I hope that decision does not hurt him bring on future shows. Keystone boxing is doing an outstanding job promoting, matchmaker Brian is also doing a good job with the matches. I would prefer to come out to Rosecroft and support the show rather than the convention center. Good move!

Did you hear anything about juice having a show this week

Gary Digital Williams said...

I have not heard. The only amateur show coming up that I am aware of is the card at Club One Fitness on February 9. I will be posting about that by the end of the week.

That was a smaller arena used it wouldn't been able to hold Dusty's fans

Is Mike Reed turning pro

Gary Digital Williams said...

As far as Jimmy Lange is concerned, the date of March 9 at the Patriot Center is still on the table when I last checked back in December but no word on who the opponent is. That is subject to change.

I have heard Mike Reed does indeed plan to turn pro this year. He was slated to appear on an amateur show last Saturday in Baltimore but his opponent did not show. There are reports that he wants to wait until after the USA Nationals, so if he does, it may not happen until the final quarter of the year.

National Golden Gloves champ Gervonta "Tank" Davis of Baltimore had his amateur swan song on that card in Baltimore last Saturday and does plan to turn pro very soon.

This just in: Mike Reed's last amateur bout is now slated to be on Tony Jeter's February 9th card at Club One. Later today, I will post details on that. This is interesting.
