Mitchell Gets Rematch With Banks February 16 in Atlantic City!

Brandywine, MD heavyweight Seth "Mayhem" Mitchell will get an opportunity to prove that what happened last November was a fluke.  Mitchell will get a rematch with Detroit, MI's Johnathon Banks on Saturday, February 16 at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, NJ.  The scheduled 12-round bout will be the co-feature to Adrian Broner's WBC Lightweight championship defense against former WBA Junior Lightweight titleholder Gavin Rees.  The doubleheader will be televised by HBO.

Boardwalk Hall has not been the kindest of venues for Mitchell (25-1-1, 19 KO's).  Banks stopped Mitchell in the second round on November 17.  Prior to that bout, Chazz Witherspoon rocked Mitchell in the first round back in April before Mitchell stopped Witherspoon in the third round.

Banks (29-1-1, 19 KO's) is unbeaten in his last 10 fights since moving up to heavyweight after being stopped by Tomasz Adamek in the eighth round in a bid for the IBF Cruiserweight title.  Both the NABO Heavyweight and WBC International titles that Banks won in the first bout with Mitchell are slated to be on the line again.

Good move for Mitchell, I know he can beat Banks. Mitchell is much stronger than Banks. Andre will make the necessary adjustments to prepare Mitchell. Only advised to Mitchell is to take his time, work on the basics and do his best to not leave himself open throwing wild looping punches. Other than that I see him stopping Banks in the late 8th round

I think it's a bad move for team Mitchel. Seth looked terrible in the 1st fight. He's to easy too hit and I feel he psyche is way off.

We gonna see what how much heart Seth has. I personally think he is gonna punish banks this time.

If Seth loses this fight Golden Boy will dump him, his contract is about to be up and if that happens team mitchell will not have the financial resources that they have had up to this point. Seth should have been having off the air fights as well as his HBO dates. Even if he wins he has already been exposed. Golden Boy will cash him out and put him in with a Klit, he will get destroyed.

I disagree with some of the comments, anyone in the heavyweight division that gets caught with a solid punch can go out. Ask Lennox Lewis? The only thing in my opinion that can hurt Seth is the inexperience, but I think he makes it up with Will, Determination, and commitment. We can all be wrong, however, I'm optimistic, he will rise to the occasion and get the win. Until proven wrong, Seth will win this one!

This was an absolute HORRIBLE decision by Seth Mitchells management. It is not like he got stopped by a lucky punch, Banks was simply waiting, and when the opening presented itself, he took it. And when Seth didn't have the experiecne to hold, he got stopped. Now some people will say that it was simply a problem of Seth not knowing how to hold, specifically because he held the waist and not the arms, he got stopped. Although that it true, the REAL problem is why he got caught in the first place. Although I like watching local guys fight, and will always support them, I just have never been that sold on Mitchell. I know that HBO is dying for some young exciting heavyweights, but he is not the one. At least not now. The more they push him into fights he is not ready for, like they are doing with Banks, the worst his marketability will become. It's clear whomever is behind him wants to control the damage caused by his loss to Banks, and is willing to take a BIG chance to do it. This leads me to believe that he was on the verge of a nice HBO deal or a potential money fight with a Klitshko IF he had won that Banks fight. Now the only way they can ge that deal back is by proving to them (hbo, K2 promotions)that the loss was a fluke. It's sad becasue they are not looking at the extreme risk to Seth's potential marketability IF he was to lose to Banks. There is nothing more damaging than losing to the same fighter back to back, especially when it is by KO. Furthermore, the problems he had in that fight, the problems that led to the TKO, can't get fixed in 5 months!! Especially with a fighter as seasoned as Banks.
