Harrison In Ring Magazine; Lamont Peterson Among Ring's 100 Best; Mike Tyson Brings One-Man Show to DC!

Interesting recent news items.  Undefeated DC welterweight Dusty Harrison was mentioned in the January 2013 edition of Ring Magazine in the magazine's "Fighter's Favorites" section where they ask what a boxer's favorite music, food and other items.  Harrison will be in action on Saturday night, December 8 at the Washington Convention Center.

The Ring 100 was also in that issue.  This is where the Ring ranks the 100 best boxers in the world.  IBF Junior Welterweight champion Lamont Peterson of DC was the only Beltway Boxer to make the list at number 26.

Also, DC made the list of venues for the national tour of Mike Tyson's one-man show "Undisputed Truth." This is the Broadway production directed by Spike Lee that received solid reviews during its run in New York.  The solo show will come to the Warner Theatre on Friday, April 26.  The Warner is just three minutes from where the former undisputed world champion fought his last pro bout in June of 2005 -- The MCI (now Verizon) Center.  Tyson lost by TKO to Kevin McBride.  According to one source, tickets seem to be very pricey.  The cheapest I saw was $117 in the balcony.

One real ironic twist to this is where the 35-city national tour begins.  The tour will start on February 12 and 13 in Indianapolis, IN -- the same state where Tyson served three years in prison on a rape charge in 1991.  Tyson's manager for this tour says that was a coincidence.
