Undefeated Capitol Heights, MD featherweight "Mr." Gary Russell, Jr. has a change of opponent for his Friday, November 9 bout at the Fantasy Springs Casino in Indio, CA. Russell (20-0, 12 KO's) will now face Mexican boxer Roberto Castaneda (20-2-1, 15 KO's) in a scheduled 10-round contest that will be televised on Showtime's ShoBox program.
Russell is coming of a third-round TKO over Christopher Perez on June 30 in Indio. Castaneda's last outing was his first in the United States and Castaneda lost by six-round TKO. The bout will headline a card that will feature the pro debuts of many members of the 2012 US Olympic team. Castaneda is a late sub for ranked contender Vyacheslav Gusev, who broke his rib in training.
