Peterson-Judah Costs $50,000 For Headbangers!

HeadBangers Promotions won a purse bid for the rights to promote the championship bout between IBF Junior Welterweight titleholder Lamont Peterson and mandatory challenger Zab Judah.  In reality, HeadBangers was the only promotional company to bid on the bout and the winning bid was $50,000.

HeadBangers now has 90 days from today -- until January 2, 2013 -- to make the bout take place.

Only bid and the winning bid. So I would guess that would indicate the bids started at $50k. Is that how it works?

Any word on if this helps the chances of the fight taking place in the DMV?

ACW, Barry Hunter is no fool, he started reserving dates at various DC venues a couple months ago in anticipation of this purse bid. I know for a fact that DC Armory and DC Convention Center are two venues that have been contacted are being considered. Verizon Center is a possibility, although unlikely because of cost and availability issues during hockey/hoops season. My guess, and this is just an educated guess, this fight takes place on 11/24 at one of the above mentioned DC venues.

It would look good atop the Keystone's card on the 8th

None of the big boys wanted to be involved with Lamont and Zab ha

If Keystone is having fights on Dec 8th., it would be great to have the Peterson show headline the event with the other local talent. Now I know you better get your tickets early. That's a sell out for sure. Peterson returns!!! KO's Zab in front of packed house. OMG

That would be a good look but nobody in DC wants to work together. Its so many good fighters from DC MD & VA. To many to name. We should fill the Verizon center often with top fighters filling the card.

Who should be on the card?

Kevin Rivers
Day Day
Danny
Fox
Dusty
Harold
Mike Reed-pro debut
Anthony

who is gary russel? is he a local guy too? what weight is he?

Anonymous said...

gary is a boxer from district hgts md, but he does not fight here. if u followed boxing, u should know who he is. he went to 2008 olympics in the 125lb class. did not make team because of weight issues, but is doing fine in the pros. he will not be on the card. they will only put guys who are known in the dc area to make more money.

You didn't follow boxing yourself he was in the Olympics at 119lbs but he did qualify at 125lbs
