Tributes are coming quickly in the wake of the tragic passing of Abodunrin "Bo" Akinyanju. BATB has learned that there will be a number of tributes planned for the Saturday, August 25th boxing card at the Washington Convention Center. Representatives for Keystone Boxing say they will have something in place by that time. Akinyanju's last bout was on a Keystone Boxing card on March 10 at the Convention Center.
DC welterweight Dusty Harrison, who is headlining the card, says he will donate his entire purse to Akinyanju's family. Also, representatives for Seth Mitchell send their condolences. Many tributes have come via Facebook and other social media.
As soon as we get word on arrangements, we will certainly pass them along.
Has a donation site been set up to donate funds to the family?
ReplyDeleteGreat question. Not that I am aware of -- things have happened so quickly. But as soon as I find out, I will let you know.
ReplyDeleteBrand new baby, how sad. It would be nice to know the donation location/site info as it comes available. Horrible trajedy.
ReplyDeleteI work for the company that Bo was employeed with at the time of the accident. This is a very tragic situation and my heart goes out to his wife, family and new baby. I am attaching a email that was sent out from our corporate office that will allow anyone to help the family out, that wants to. I never meet Bo personally, but I still will continue to pray for his family and co-workers.

Regarding: Bo Akinyanju Memorial Fund
As you learned yesterday, we lost one of our team in a terrible accident while he was returning from serving a customer. Many of you have asked how you can help. We have established a "Bo Akinyanju Memorial Fund" through the G&K Services Foundation. All amounts contributed will go directly to Bo's family to help-out during this very difficult period.
To make a tax-deductible donation, send a check payable to "G&K Services Foundation" to Lisa Gallmeyer's attention at G&K's corporate office. Please reference "Bo Akinyanju Memorial Fund" on your check in the memo line. The corporate office's mailing address is:
G&K Services Foundation
Attn: Lisa Gallmeyer
5995 Opus Parkway, Suite 500
Minnetonka, MN 55343
Thank you for keeping Bo's family in your prayers.
Douglas A. Milroy
Thanks, but I will be sending my donations to Keystone.
