Rahman Feels Disrespected In Press Tour for September 29 Title Bout Against Povetkin!

It could be where the bout is being held.  It could be because he is simply the mandatory challenger and not being promoted by the promotional company putting on the bout and no one really understands how he got to be the mandatory challenger in the first place.  Or, it could be that being a former undisputed heavyweight champion doesn't carry as much weight as it used to.

Whatever the reason, former undisputed World Heavyweight champion Hasim "The Rock" Rahman says he feels truly disrespected during the promotional tour leading up to his Saturday, September 29 title bid against WBA titleholder Alexander Povetkin in Hamburg, Germany.

Rahman didn't have a lot to say at a press conference held in Hamburg on Thursday.  However, he said enough to let his displeasure be known.

"Obviously, I am not being respected over here. For that, I will punish Povetkin inside the ring and take revenge. This is all I have got to say," Rahman commented.   The Baltimore, MD native gave very few interviews after the conference was over.

Povetkin came to the conference with a brand new trainer -- former world champion Kostya Tszyu replaces Teddy Atlas in Povetkin's corner.

I hope he did not blow all of his money like many other fighters to only end up broke. It would be a sad story! I'm wishing he could win the title back to the states but I know is less like for it to happen.

Rahman is here for the paycheck. If he is below 240 it could be an intersting fight as Rock has a punchers chance. Last time he had an opportunity like this vs Wlad in 2008 he should showed up out of shape and phone it in. Lets hope it is different this time.
