McKnight Amateur Boxing, Kickboxing Invitational and MMA Exhibition is August 11 in NE DC!

The second annual Dr. Arnold W. McKnight Amateur Boxing, Kickboxing Invitational and MMA Exhibition Event will take place on Saturday, August 11 at the Harry Thomas Recreational Center located on 1743 Lincoln Road, NE in Washington, DC.
The event is held in memory of Dr. McKnight who was the longest-tenured chair of the District of Columbia Boxing and Wrestling Commission. Dr. McKnight served as chair of the commission from 1993 until his death in July of 2007. As chair, Dr. McKnight presided over a number of big boxing cards in DC including the "Triple Jeopardy" card in 1999 and the Kevin McBride-Mike Tyson card in 2005. Dr. McKnight was also influential in bringing Mixed Martial Arts to the Nation's Capital.
The event is free and open to the public and it begins at noon and lasts until 6:30 PM. There will be a number of family activities including games and swimming. There is a community festival as well as the boxing, kickboxing and MMA events. A number of organizations are coming together for this event -- The DC Boxing and Wrestling Commission, the DC Department of Parks and Recreation, the Potomac Valley Association of USA Boxing and the Yamasaki Academy.
