Recovering from a hand injury that forced the postponement of this bout, Undefeated Brandywine, MD heavyweight contender Seth "Mayhem" Mitchell will take on Johnathon Banks of Detroit, MI in a 10-round bout on Saturday, October 6 at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, NJ. The bout will be televised by HBO.
Mitchell (25-0-1, 19 KO's) was scheduled to face Banks (28-1-1, 18 KO's) on July 14 but he aggravated an injury to his hand suffered in his knockout victory over Chazz Witherspoon in April. Mitchell is ranked number two by the WBO and number eight by the WBC. Banks, a former cruiserweight contender, is ranked number 11 by the IBF. Banks is undefeated as a heavyweight (8-0-1, four KO's).
The bout will be part of a tripleheader that will feature Adrian Broner and possibly undefeated welterweight prospect Keith Thurman.
