McCalla Returns to North Carolina on June 23!

Undefeated Baltimore, MD junior middleweight Cecil McCalla will make his third straight trip to North Carolina when he faces veteran Andre Baker of Lumberton, NC in a six-round contest on Saturday, June 23 at the Marriott Southern Crescent Hotel Ballroom in Greensboro, NC.

McCalla (14-0, five KO's) last fought on March 30 in Raleigh, NC and won a six-round unanimous decision over Kevin Carter.  McCalla has battled in the Tarheel State in four of his last five outings.  Baker (listed on BoxRec with a record of 8-35-2, two KO's but listed on the press release as 15-18, four KO's) has fought a host of notables throughout his career including Paul Malignaggi, Kermit Cintron, Demetrius Hopkins, David Diaz and Emmanuel Clottey.  Baker also lost two decisions to the Beltway's Andrew Farmer.

Another local is slated to be on the card, Stafford, VA heavyweight "The People's Champion" Jonathan Felton (6-25, five KO's) will take on undefeated John Nofire of Miami, FL (6-0, five KO's) in a four-round encounter.

James Stevenson cant find a fight cause all the fighters are bought and McCalla is going to be like Cuja win against bums then when a real fight come look like a bum.

the sad part is that baker is a junior welterweight. He fought the farmer kid at 140 both times. Now he is moving up in weight???? Baker got stopped by the farmer kid in the first fight, faked an injury or some shit. then lost badly in an 8 round decision. This fight isnt going to last long at that weight.

If Baker trains for the fight I wouldn't count him out of at least making it a competative bout. And who knows maybe an upset
even at the weight diffrence.

we should watch this fight as well as Chavez vs Martinez fight on Sept 15

Chavez-Martinez is not a Beltway Bout and has no meaning here.
