L. Peterson Stripped of WBA Title?

We are hearing word from multiple sources that the World Boxing Association (WBA) will strip Lamont Peterson of his WBA Super Lightweight title that he won on December 10th in DC.

According to Richard Schaefer, CEO of Golden Boy Promotions, the WBA will declare the title vacant because of the recent Peterson drug test situation and make the July 14 title bout between former champ Amir Khan and current WBC titleholder Danny Garcia a unification bout.

There is no official word from the WBA on this situation as of yet.  Peterson still holds the IBF version of the title pending a meeting with the International Boxing Federation later this year.  Sources tell BATB that barring any surprises, the IBF will allow Peterson to keep that title.

All of the top fighters are juicing up.Only because Lamont won
are they taking his belt.If Kahn had gotten the decision nothing would have been said.
This is a corrupt damn game with people at the top manipulating TV and all the big fights when all of the real action is with what they call the C and D grade fighters on the local shows.
Hate it but thats just how it is.
Juice or no juice Lamont is the man.

A friend and promoter in Virginia.

Hi Gary, sorry if I missed it but we never heard your side on this whole Lamont Peterson steroid fiasco. Any thoughts?

I think Peterson made a great mistake, but I think it was done for medical reasons, not to cheat.

I do believe that if Peterson did take the synthetic testosterone prior to the first bout that it shows a bit of arrogance asking for drug testing prior to the scheduled second bout. What were they trying to prove?

But I don't believe Peterson was trying to gain an edge illegally.
